  • Mowen graduates as tuba instrumentalist

    MOWEN. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Steven S. Mowen, son of Carol and Gregg Mowen of Fort Knox, recently graduated as a tuba instrumentalist from the Music Basic Course at the School of Music in Virginia Beach, Va. He qualified for the accelerated program and was recognized for outstanding musical proficiency. Mowen is a 2007 graduate of Antilles High School of Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, and a 2011 graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont. with a Bachelor of Music degree.

    MARTIN. Navy Seaman Apprentice Nicholas A. Martin, son of Danielle and Justin M. Pendleton of Elizabethtown, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2013 graduate of Central Hardin High School.

    SA. Army Cadet Liza T. Sa has graduated from the Army ROTC Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox. A 2013 graduate of Manumalo Baptist in Pago Pago, American Samoa, she is the daughter of Faitele Sa of Fort Knox. She is a student at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M.

    STEFFANY. Army Cadet Anthony V. Steffany has graduated from the Army ROTC Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox. A 2013 graduate of Samoana High School in Pago Pago, American Samoa, he is the son of Carl and Vaesavali Steffany of Fort Knox. He is a student at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo.

    BAKKEN. Joshua P. Bakken graduated from the U.S. Army Air Assault School at Fort Campbell. A 2013 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of Dean and Peri Bakken of Rineyville. He will attend Georgia Military College in Milledgville.

  • 3rd ESC celebrates women’s equality

    The 3rd Sustainment Command Expeditionary hosted its Women’s Equality Day Observance on Aug. 26 at the Saber and Quill at Fort Knox. The event was held to honor and pay tribute to the women who fought to create equal rights and to celebrate the passing of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting woman the right to vote.
