    The bride-to-be is the daughter of David and Connie Dowers of Union. A 2012 graduate of Ryle High School, she is a 4.0 student at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College studying elementary education.

    The prospective groom is the son of Ricky Carter of Hodgenville and LeAnna Miller of Elizabethtown. A 2010 graduate of LaRue County High School, he is a welder at Altec.

    KENTUCKY WEATHER.Along came some much needed rain and of course a thunderstorm came right along with it. Our electricity kept going off and on but only lasted a few seconds each time. Hats off to those people who work for our electric companies. Many spent all night out fixing problems.

    Aaron and Marla Stillwell of Hodgenville announce the birth of a son, Clayton Lee Stillwell, on Aug. 15, 2013. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and 18½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Reed and Angie Smith of Magnolia and Roger Stillwell of Upton.

  • POW/MIA Flag Guard retires flag

    The POW/MIA Flag Guard was joined Sept. 1 by members of the Second Brigade MC in retiring the flag at Brandenburg Water Front Park in preparation for presentation to the family of Lt. John Douglas Hale, MIA KIA/BNR March 8, 1971, at a memorial plaque dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. Sept. 20.

  • Johnson completes Eagle Scout project

    Nathan Johnson just completed his Eagle Scout service project. Nathan is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 604. He is an eighth-grader at T.K. Stone Middle School. Nathan’s project was completed at Saunders Springs Nature Preserve in Radcliff on Aug. 24. The project included creating a gravel footbridge and clearing and completing a 1,400 foot section of a mountain biking/hiking trail at Saunders Springs.
