  • Local judges participate in 2012 District Judges College

    District Court Judges Kimberly W. Shumate and John D. Simcoe, who serve Hardin County, and C. Derek Reed, who serves Hart and LaRue counties, participated in the 2012 Kentucky District Judges College, Sept. 16 through 19 at Lake Barkley State Park in Cadiz. The Administrative Office of the Courts provided the judicial education program for the state’s district court judges. The program included 19 hours of continuing education credit for judges.

  • Northern Hardin County Democratic Women Club members attend convention

    The Northern Hardin County Democratic Women’s Club members recently attended the state convention in Frankfort.

    JoAnn Winkenhofer was elected the state second vice president and was named the recipient of the Anne Shanks Bourne Award for outstanding Democratic leaders who are on par with excellence in pursuits of life and exemplary in their support of the Democratic party, community service and in a wide variety of worthwhile projects.

  • Parents announce birth of Matylda McConnell

    Anna Kerns and Wilbur McConnell of Vine Grove announce the birth of a daughter, Matylda Elizabeth Danae McConnell, on Sept. 4, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    She has a brother, Zero Kerns.

    Maternal grandparents are Debbie Butler of Cecilia and Jim Evrard of Paducah.

    Great-grandparents are Joe and Marie Butler of Tell City, Ind.

    R.J. and Bev Dyrdek of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Abigail Dyrdek of Cecilia, to Luke Wilkinson of Cecilia, son of John Wilkinson of Portland, Tenn., and Dawn Sharpless of Biloxi, Miss.

    The bride-to-be is pursuing a Masters in Education at the University of Louisville.

    The prospective groom is a mechanical engineer at Remington Arms.

    The wedding is at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 3, 2012, at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville.
