  • Cub Scout Pack 24 donates popcorn for deployed troops

    During fall popcorn sales, Cub Scouts from Pack 24, chartered by Longview United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, collected donations to send popcorn to deployed troops. Recently, they delivered the popcorn to the Rear Detachment for 3rd ESC on Fort Knox. The Family Readiness Groups for 3rd ESC will use the donated popcorn to help fill Christmas stockings that will be mailed overseas. The popcorn also will be placed in the barracks rooms when troops return home. Pack 24 appreciates those in the community who donated to them during the fall popcorn sales.

  • GFWCKentucky distributes Kentucky Pink Connection fliers

    GFWCKentucky Fourth District Governor Diane Willis distributed Kentucky Pink Connection fliers to the Hardin/LaRue County Health Clinic. The fliers are for the use of women who need assistance in getting their breast cancer screenings, along with help after treatments with transportation, child care and other issues.

  • Hosparus Shoppe to host eighth annual holiday bazaar

    The Hosparus Thrift Shoppe in Elizabethtown’s Helmwood Plaza will host its eighth annual holiday bazaar from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 30 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1. The day includes savings on gently used holiday trees, ornaments and other items.

    The Shoppe accepts donations of gently used clothing and home items; proceeds benefit Hosparus patients and their families.

  • Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown members gather for November meeting

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown met Nov. 2 at the Brown-Pusey House with President Betty Sue French presiding.

    Bobbi Dille, second vice president, introduced the program. Rich Griendling presented slides of the completed Hardin County Veterans Tribute in Elizabethtown Nature Park, which was dedicated on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Members enjoyed patriotic music sung by Paul Simon, who was accompanied by Woman’s Club member Ann Case.

  • Rineyville Alumni Association has annual meeting and banquet

    The Rineyville Alumni Association annual meeting and dinner was Oct. 6 at Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown. There were 265 in attendance. This year marked the 53rd anniversary of the association.

    This year the honored groups were the classes of 1936, 1942, 1952 and 1962.

  • Goldenrod Homemakers gather for October meeting

    The Goldenrod Homemakers met Oct. 2 at the Hardin County Extension Office. Homemakers answered roll call to “Name your most memorable Halloween experience.”

    Mary Martin gave the lesson on “Bed Bug Prevention.” Nadine Bush was the hostess.

    The club will meet in November at the Hardin County Extension Office. Sue Logsdon will be hostess and Nadine Bush will lead the lesson.

    Members went out to lunch following the meeting.
