  • Patterson enlists in Navy

    PATTERSON. Civilian Henry A. Patterson, son of Deandrea Britian of Radcliff, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District in Raleigh, N.C. Patterson will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy’s Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2007 graduate of West Side High School in Augusta, Ga.

  • Rojas graduates from recruit training

    ROJAS. Marine Corps Pfc. Mateo E. Rojas, son of Antonia Rojas and Hector L. Rojas, both of Radcliff, earned the title of U.S. Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S. C. Rojas is a 2008 graduate of North Hardin High School.

  • Hazelwood graduates basic training

    HAZELWOOD. Air Force Airman 1st Class William H. Hazelwood Jr. graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2003 graduate of Fort Knox High School, he earned a bacehlor's degree in 2009 from the University of Kentucky. He is the son of Sheila Hazelwood of Louisville.

  • Whited graduates from basic training

    WHITED. Air Force Airman Thomas E. Whited graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2011 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of Jennifer Whited of Rineyville.

  • Davidson graduates from basic training

    DAVIDSON. Army Pvt. Jesse R. Davidson has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. A 2008 graduate of Central Hardin High School, he is the son of Patrick McDonald of Rineyville.

  • McCoys celebrate 50th anniversary

    Donnie and Margaret McCoy of Vine Grove will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception, given by their family, from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Valley View Baptist Church Christian Life Center in Vine Grove. No gifts, please.

    They were married Oct. 15, 1962, at Mill Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Holliday.

    Mr. McCoy is retired from Dow Corning and Mrs. McCoy is employed with Hardin County Schools.

    They have two children, Jeffrey McCoy and Amy Faulkner; and four grandchildren.

  • Stitchers celebrate annual quilt show

    The Stitchers Quilt Guild celebrated another quilt show this year with nearly 800 people viewing the approximately 300 quilts. Viewers voted for their favorite bed-size and non-bed-size quilts. The winners were Suzanne Shircliff with her bed-size quilt “Indian Summer” and Kelly Pruitt with her non-bed-size quilt “Dresden Flowers.”

  • Joshua’s Friends celebrates grand opening

    The Hardin County Chamber of Commerce cohosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening Sept. 26 for Joshua’s Friends, a group which strives to empower families to live beyond disabilities, at Lifeline Church, 1116 S.   • Weaver speaks at Radcliff Rotary Club meeting

    Retired Lt. Col. Mike Weaver recently spoke to Radcliff Rotary Club members about the restoration of the World War II-era barracks building now underway at the General George Patton Museum of Leadership at Fort Knox. He pointed out the project is being done entirely with volunteer labor and additional funds from private sources are needed. He highlighted some of the successes of his fund-raising campaign and added the Radcliff Rotary Club to his list of donors by accepting a $200 check from club vice president Fran Rolwing. 

  • Woman’s Club members assist at blood drive

    Members of the Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown recently assisted the American Red Cross at its blood drive at St. James Catholic Church. Dottye Baldwin served as hostess for the canteen. Other members donated cookies for the canteen and even gave blood during the drive.
