  • Stokeses celebrate 50th anniversary

    Alden J. and Earnestine Stokes of Vine Grove celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 21, 2012.

    They were married Sept. 21, 1962, in Gloucester, Va.

    Mrs. Stokes is a nurse who retired from Ireland Army Hospital at Fort Knox. She is a member of Stithton Baptist Church in Radcliff.

    Mr. Stokes is an Army veteran and retired from civil service at Fort Knox. He also is a member of Stithton Baptist Church.

    They have two children, Karen Stokes of Radcliff and Keith Stokes of Bowling Green; and one granddaughter.

    Rineyville Days

    Rineyville Days are Friday and Saturday. Here is some of the information:

    The baby contest is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Rineyville Ball Park. Registration is from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at the ball park. Entry fee is $10, dress is casual. Forms can be picked up at The Cecilian Bank in Rinevyille. For information, call Heather Whelan, 268-1114.

    Carnival rides, sponsored by The Cecilian Bank, are at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The first 80 kids will receive five ride tickets, so be sure to stop by The Cecilian Bank booth.

  • EHS Class of 1960 members gather for annual reunion

    Classmates and spouses of the Elizabethtown High School Class of 1960 gathered Aug. 4 at Stone Hearth Restaurant in Elizabethtown for its 52nd reunion with 39 in attendance.

    The R&W Nitro Tracker Team Tournmaent Trail and Masonic Lodge 603 of Vine Grove received a donation from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10281 Commander Butch Ferrell. The Tracker Team Tournament hosted an open tournament for the lodge and Kosair’s Burn Center Charity Drive Sept. 15 at Nolin Lake, Wax Ramp. VFW Commander Butch Ferrell presents a check to Dale Fleenor to assist with the event.

  • Ikner graduates from basic training

    IKNER. Army Pfc. James R. Ikner has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. A 2008 graduate of John Hardin High School, he is the son of Nathalie and James Ikner of Elizabethtown.

  • Randall receives Navy Achievement Medal

    ET4 Jason I. Randall has been decorated with the Navy Achievement Medal for special performance of duty aboard the USS Ponce, now serving in the Persian Gulf area. Specific award details indicate he was responsible for restoring an obsolete radar to working condition. He will return to his regular ship, the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, after this tour of duty. He is the son of Lisa and Bert Randall and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Don Shaw of Radcliff.

  • Brownie Girl Scout Troop 1558 assists in Cystic Fibrosis run

    St. James School’s Brownie Girl Scout Troop 1558 helped pass out water to participants in the recent Pools Plus 1st Run and Splash for Cystic Fibrosis 5K Run in Elizabethtown.
