  • VFW Post No. 10281 continues to share Christmas spirit

    Post Quartermaster, Benn Gass, mailed a $240 donation check on behalf of VFW Post No. 10281 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to enable the foundation to continue its mission of ensuring that no child is forgotten at Christmas.

    The National Guard also was a recipient of a $250 donation from VFW Post No. 10281. Post members are proud to help the National Guard, a force that always is ready to respond in peace and war and always there to assist at fires, floods and blizzards.

  • Musselwhite graduates from basic training

    MUSSELWHITE. Air Force Airman 1st Class Brittany D. Musselwhite graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Musselwhite earned distinction as an honor graduate. A 2009 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, she is the daughter of Elizabeth Musselwhite of Elizabethtown.

  • Stroupe graduates from basic training

    STROUPE. Army Reserve Spec. Eric S. Stroupe II has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. A 2010 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of Brenda Jones of Radcliff.

    SUTHER. Air Force Airman Jeremy P. Suther graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2011 graduate of John Hardin High School, he is the son of  William and Michaela Suther of Rineyville.

  • Elizabethtown Junior Woman’s Club members participate in fall activities

    The Elizabethtown Junior Woman’s Club’s fall activities have kept members busy. The EJWC 2nd Annual Charity Cocktail raised $1,200 to support the Addison Jo Blair Foundation and Flaget Cancer Center. Charity attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, music, door prizes and mingling. The silent auction also was a big hit. Club members appreciate everyone who supported the events and for donations from local and surrounding businesses.

  • Weaver speaks at NARFE meeting

    Elizabethtown Chapter 1050 of National Active and Retired Federal Employees recently met at Nolin RECC. 

    Guest speaker, Retired Col. Mike Weaver presented information about the World War II barracks renovation project, initiated at Fort Knox to restore one of the last original remaining barracks left standing from the WWII era.

  • Vine Grove Woman’s Club appreciates support for ‘Breakfast with Mrs. Claus’

    On Dec. 3, the Vine Grove Woman’s Club held its annual “Breakfast with Mrs. Claus” in conjunction with Dickens of a Christmas. This is our annual fundraiser for the Vine Grove Woman’s Club scholarship fund that goes to a local student in the northern end of the county.

    The Vine Grove Woman’s Club would like to thank the city of Vine Grove, Hardin County Schools, Mayor Blake Proffitt, Magistrate Garry King, Councilwoman Kathy Cisco, Wilson Muir Bank and Linda Buchanan.

  • FOP Bruce Tabor Memorial Lodge No. 40 appreciates Shop With a Cop support

    The members of the Fraternal Order of Police, Bruce Tabor Memorial Lodge No. 40, would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for donations to the Shop With A Cop program, which was held Dec. 13 at Walmart in Elizabethtown. These donations provided 269 children from Hardin County with the necessary items to help make these children’s Christmas a little brighter.
