• Woman’s Club members support community organizations

    The General Federation of Woman’s Clubs of Elizabethtown worked throughout the year to raise funds for community organizations Recently members gave donations to Feeding America, Elizabethtown Police Department for “Shop with a Cop”, SpringHaven Domestic Violence Center and the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center.

  • Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown recognizes students for poetry contest

    The General Federation of Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown recognized students from Kelly Miller’s fourth-grade class at Heartland Elementary School for participating in the Woman’s Club Student Poetry Contest.

    Each student was presented a certificate of participation for entering the contest. Student entries winning on the local level were then submitted to the district level and winners on that level to the state competition in April. The club recognized the 100 percent competition in this contest.

    The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10281 Commander Butch Ferrell and Ladies Auxiliary President Carol Hill attended the awards ceremony for the North Hardin High School Junior ROTC.

  • Parrett speaks at Radcliff Woman’s Club meeting

    The topic of the May 13 meeting of the Radcliff Woman’s Club was legislation. To get a clear insight about Kentucky legislation and how it affects the local community, the club invited state Sen. Dennis Parrett to serve as the guest speaker.

    Having been a member of 16 Hardin County organizations and a current member of the Central Kentucky Education Foundation, Kentucky FFA Foundation, CORE Committee and the YMCA Steering Committee, he is extremely knowledgeable in the needs of area citizens.

  • Elizabethtown Lions Club members present donation to American Red Cross

    Bob Thompson of the American Red Cross accepts from Elizabethtown Lions Club President Morris Bottoms, the club's annual donation. The ACR assists families after house fires, natural disasters and is a part of the First Response Team in Hardin County who assisted in the recent car wreck on I-65 that took six lives.

  • Haycraft – Hafley

    Lori Haycraft and Corey Hafley, along with their children, Clayton, Hunter, Thomas, Jacob and Tanner, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Patty Elmore of Elizabethtown and Phillip and Phyllis Haycraft of Leitchfield.

    The prospective groom is the son of Nancy Hafley of Springfield and Warren and Camilla Hafley of Lebanon.

    The wedding is at 4 p.m. June 22, 2013, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Greensburg.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Invitations will be sent.

    Hello friends. I hope everyone’s three-day weekend went well. I lost a day so I am a day behind. Alex has put out some things in his garden, tomato plants, banana and hot peppers, black lettuce and onions. I will be happy, happy, happy when the tomatoes come on.

    CHURCH NEWS. Stephensburg Methodist Church will have vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 9 p.m. June 17 through 21. Everyone is welcome to attend.

    Where has this month gone? It seems that they no more than come in until they are gone. I have been enjoying this beautiful weather we have been having, aside from the wind, which has been exceptionally strong. As the old saying goes “Make hay while the sun shines” has been coming true in this area, it seems that everyone is either cutting, baling or caring for it in some manner.
