    I still can’t grasp the feeling it is almost Christmas, I guess this weather doesn’t indicate that time of year is here. Though I for one have been enjoying the warmer temperatures and beautiful sunshine.

    OUT AND ABOUT. We enjoyed eating lunch with the Modern Woodmen the past week. This month we ate at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I don’t know as yet where the next meeting will be. We enjoy the meal and fellowship with friends.

    Pat and Donetta Eastridge of Sonora announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Brandi Eastridge, to Bo Piper, son of George and Kathy Piper of Sonora.

    The bride-to-be graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in middle grades education. She is a language arts teacher with Hart County Schools.

    The prospective groom attended Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and is employed at Altec Industries.

    The weather finally has gotten colder. It seems more like December. I can’t help but wonder when we will get some snow. We did have some snow showers Dec. 10. I hope we will have a white Christmas.

    CLUB NEWS. The HowevalleyVertreesCommunity Club will have its holiday meal and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The meat will be provided. Please bring dishes of food to share. All members and their families are encouraged to attend.

    Hello friends. As always, I hope everyone is well. The weather has once again been something else, cold late at night and early mornings and warm as spring in mid day. What a way to start of the winter.

  • Zonta Club of Elizabethtown hosts Christmas Tea Party

    The Zonta Club of Elizabethtown hosted its Second Annual Christmas Tea Party on Dec. 2 at the Brown-Pusey House. Members served more than 50 guests.

    A scholarship was presented to Jessica Ryan, the 2012 Amelia Earhart Essay Contest winner, at the tea. Ryan is in the nursing program at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

    Proceeds from the tea are used for scholarships and to support local, national and international Zonta service projects to improve the status of women.

  • Scouts camp out at Saunders Springs

    Webelos Scouts from Pack 24, chartered by Longview United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, participated in a weekend campout at Saunders Springs in November. Along with earning several activity badges, they also participated in a service project and built a bridge and enhanced 150 feet of trail.
