    Well, it is finally here. Today is the day that White Mills Baptist Church celebrates its 175th anniversary. If you are reading this early enough, please come to church at 11 a.m. for all of the festivities. Ron Lewis will bring the message. There will be singing and praises and afterwards we will have some delicious food cooked by some of the best cooks in Hardin County. Please come and join us as we praise God for a church that has stood for Him for so many years.

  • Zonta Club members gather for August meeting

    Special guest at the August meeting of Zonta Club of Elizabethtown was Jo Edwards, coordinator of the East Hardin Middle School Youth Service Center. She explained her role at the school as a support for students to make their school experience a success. She provided a list of the needs of students and members of the club donated items such as backpacks, personal hygiene items and shoes to help during the school year.

  • POW/MIA Flag Guard raises flag at Quality Inn

    On Aug. 30, the POW/MIA Flag Guard raised a flag at Quality Inn and Suites in Elizabethtown. Jeffrey Wilson, general manager, said “This flag represents everyone who has shed their blood for us so that we can enjoy our freedom and equality on a daily basis. I am thankful to be an American and am thankful to be a part of the American spirit. Our fighting soldiers and our POW/MIA soldiers are part of the foundation that makes our country great. God bless our soldiers. God bless America.

    ZAMBIANCO. Army Cadet Christina M. Zambianco has graduated from the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox. She is the daughter of Anna Anderson of Radcliff and a student at the University of Louisville.

    Optimist Club of Radcliff members Frances Lee, board director, left, and Jackie Banks, president takethe stage for recognition at the Optimist International Convention in Cincinnati for bringing in five plus new members to the local club. Also recognized was Willie Lee, who was introduced on stage as the 2013—14 international vice president for the mid-atlantic region of Optimist International.

    Eugene and Angie Miller of Irvington and Donnie and Hester Fulkerson of Sonora announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Alexandria Nicole Miller and Joseph Dale Fulkerson, both of Rineyville.

    The wedding is at 4 p.m. Sept. 14, 2013, at Freedom’s Way Church in Cecilia with a reception to follow at Colvin Community Center in Radcliff.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    HardinCounty Circuit Court Clerk Loretta Crady and LaRue County Circuit Court Clerk Larry C. Bell recently participated in the 2013 Circuit Court Clerks Summer College in Frankfort.The Administrative Office of the Courts provided the judicial education program June 4 and 5 for the state’s circuit court clerks.
