    Stephanie Coogle and Kenneth Bumpus Jr., both of Cecilia, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Joyce Coogle of Cecilia and the late Bluford Coogle. A 2000 graduate of Central Hardin High School, she is a cook at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    The prospective groom is the son of Kenneth and Juanita Bumpus of Marrowbone. A 1993 graduate of Cumberland County High School, he is a driver for ISA recycling.

    A customized edible swan, created by Stone Hearth Restaurant & Catering, was one of the unique centerpieces at this year’s Taste of the Heartland to benefit the Community Health Clinic of Hardin and LaRue counties.

  • Pearson-Brown completes basic training

    Pearson-Brown. Navy Seaman Jonathan M. Pearson-Brown, son of Carolyn Y. Pearson-Brown and Wilbert T. Brown, both of Elizabethtown, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

    Pearson-Brown is a 2005 graduate of Fort Knox High School.

  • Plant promoted upon graduation

    PLANT. Navy Seaman Apprentice Joshua K. Plant, son of Sherry L. Nelson and Bradley A. Plant, both of Elizabethtown, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

     Plant received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle.

    Plant is a 2009 graduate of Elizabethtown High School.

  • KAF hosts Wounded Warrior fundraiser

    There are few causes that soldiers, civilians and local nationals in a deployed environment come together to support. Recently, the Joint Sustainment Command- Afghanistan Chapter of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club sponsored such a cause, bringing roughly 475 participants together in support of a run for the Wounded Warrior Project at Kandahar Airfield.
