    Michelle Mackey of Palmdale, Calif., and Matthew Owens of Glendale announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Larry and Joyce Mackey of Palmdale. A 2002 graduate of Palmdale High School, she is employed at Wells Fargo Bank in Las Vegas.

    The prospective groom is the son of Reuben and Rebecca Owens of Glendale. A 2002 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2007 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in construction management, he is employed with Clark Construction Group in Las Vegas.

  • Doerr – Panaretos

    Mr. and Mrs. Williams Doerr of Louisville, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Doerr of Glasgow, to Nicholas George Panaretos of Louisville, son of Georgia Panaretos of California and the late Edward Panaretos.

    The bride-to-be was born in Louisville and raised in Elizabethtown. She is a graduate of Spalding University, where she received a master’s degree in occupational therapy. She is an occupational therapist at TJ Samson Community Hospital.

  • Elizabethtown Area Christian Women’s members gather for lunch

    The Elizabethtown Area Christian Women’s Connection’s bi-monthly luncheon was Sept. 10 at Stone Hearth Restaurant. Approximately 50 members from Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Hodgenville, Vine Grove, Cecilia and Leitchfield attended.

    Guest speaker was Carol Morris, a national Stonecroft Ministries speaker from Loudon, Tenn., who spoke on “Daring to Find Victory,” which was her life struggle to overcome fear and to trust God with the future.

  • 4-H Making the Connection

    With more than 100 years in 4-H youth development, this grand dame of youth organizations exemplifies the “Learn By Doing” slogan so many young people have grown up with. It is that 4-H or FFA experience that has helped youth to become productive adults with the necessary leadership skills, which are utilized in the workplace and in the communities in which they live.

  • Williams siblings tie in State 4-H Miniature Horse Halter class.

    Orry Williams, left, with Champion DBA’s Little Brownie and Briann Wiliams with Reserve Champion HMHF The Kids Talk of the Town miniature horses. Orry and Briann competed against each other in the same class at the State 4-H Miniature Horse Halter class. Orry and Briann said it didn’t really matter who placed first, but it was pretty awesome to be the only two left in Broadbent Arena and being brother and sister as Reserve Champion and then Champion were announced.

  • Zonta Club members donate school supplies to SpringHaven, Creekside

    The Zonta Club of Elizabethtown donated school supplies and delivered them to SpringHaven Domestic Violence Center and to the Creekside Elementary School Resource Center as the club’s August service project. Pictured is Ramona Jeffries loading supplies to be delivered. Club members also were preparing for the annual golf scramble with proceeds being divided between the Community Health Clinic and scholarships for women to help improve their status.

    Lana Mitchell of Rineyville and Barry Honaker of Big Clifty announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be, the daughter of William and Gloria Prater of Georgetown, is a teacher at New Highland Elementary School.

    The prospective groom, the son of Mable Honaker of White Mills and the late Larry Honaker, is employed by Hardin County Water District No. 2.

    The wedding is at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 22, 2012, at White Mills Christian Church in White Mills with a reception to follow in the Christian life center.
