  • Vincents welcome Miley Michelle

    Jody and Corey Vincent of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a daughter, Miley Michelle Vincent, on Sept. 5, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19½ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Mary Clark and Michael Hancock of Vine Grove. Paternal grandparents are Lena Rider of Florida and Coy Vincent of Arkansas.

    We are blessed to have the skilled, professional, caring medical personnel that we have at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

    I had hip replacement surgery Sept. 16.  From my first visit to Dr. Craig’s office, through the pre-op class with Brandi and Sue, the pre-surgery prep with Libby and Susie, Dr. Craig and his team,  recovery and post-op care, I could not have asked for anything more. We were well informed and prepared for the surgery.

  • Garden Club of Elizabethtown members gather for September meeting

    The Garden Club of Elizabethtown members recently met for the September meeting. Edie Bell gave a presentation on the life cycle of butterflies. Bell brought with her several live caterpillars, as well as an assortment of plants, for each guest to take home.

    Members were treated to refreshments, courtesy of hostesses Betty Childres and Joyce Effinger.

  • Gervais promoted to brigadier general

    Col. Maria R. Gervais, deputy commanding officer, U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox, became Brig. Gen. Maria R. Gervais on Sept. 20,  in a ceremony at Waybur Theater.

    Gervais, a 1987 graduate of Lander University, is now the deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox. She came to Fort Knox from the Pentagon, where she was the division chief for Full Dimension Protection, G8, Department of the Army.
