    Peyton Singer of Elizabethtown announces the birth of a sister, Gracyn Bailee Singer on May 1, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 1½ ounces and was 18¾ inches long.

    Parents are Andy and Carrie Singer of Elizabethtown.

    Grandparents are Rick and Vicky Woods of Elizabethtown and Bruce and Pat Singer of Cecilia.

    Great-grandmothers are Kathleen Woods of Louisville and Virginia Skees of Cecilia.

  • Parents welcome Jillian Marie

    Adam and Amanda Parker Higginbotham of Lexington announce the birth of a daughter, Jillian Marie, on May 17, 2011. She weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

    She has two sisters, Claire Elizabeth and Lucy Danielle.

    Maternal grandparents are Linda Marie and Bud Ireland of Hodgenville and Roger and Elaine Parker of Pennsylvania. Paternal grandparents are Charlene and Ken Kuykendall of Birmingham, Ala., and the late Jim Higginbotham.

    Dennis and Anita Cowley of Radcliff announce the birth of a granddaughter, Madeline Nicole Cowley, on May 24, 2011, at Medical Center of Lewisville. She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 18¼ inches long.

    Parents are Sheldon and Natalie Cowley of Lewisville, Texas.

    Additional grandparents are Brenda Lee Mills of Corbin and the late Edward Mills.

    The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2011 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management.

    Larry and Joyce Miller of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda Miller, to Lindsey Prestia, son of F. Michael Prestia of Prairie Village, Kan., and the late Marilyn Prestia.

    The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Missouri St. Louis and the Pierre Laclede Honors College with a bachelor’s degree in communication. She is the marketing director for Project Control of Texas and PC Sports in San Antonio.

  • Mercers celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

    Carl and Joyce Mercer will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary June 16, 2011.

    They were married June 16, 1951, in Ada, Ohio.

    They owned and operated Mercer Dry Cleaners in Vine Grove for 33 years. They are both member of the Church of Christ in Elizabethtown.

    They have two children, David Mercer of Peoria, Ill., and Renee Stamp of Elizabethtown; and three grandchildren.

    CHURCH NEWS. Today, June 12, Center Point Baptist Church will have its homecoming beginning at 10:30 a.m. Special singing by the Coffey Family. The meal will be potluck after the service. The church will provide paper plates, bread, drinks and the meat. Brother Robert Jewell is the church pastor. Everyone is welcome to attend the service and the meal.

    A revival will begin at Center Point Baptist Church at 7 p.m. June 20. Brother Tommy Moldon will be the evangelist. Visitors are welcome.
