  • Andrews graduates from basic training

    ANDREWS. Army Pvt. Jeffrey F. Andrews has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
     A 2009 graduate of  Elizabethtown High School, he is the son of Kelly Andrews of Elizabethtown and brother of Luke Andrews of Wandering Way, Castle Rock, Colo.

  • Councilman Palmer meets with Congressman Guthrie

     Radcliff City Councilman Edward Palmer has been an advocate for youth from the local levels right up to the national level since his arrival in Kentucky in 1997. Councilman Palmer, while in Washington, D.C. at a Coalition for Juvenile Justice Conference, was able to meet with Congressman Brett Guthrie on Capitol Hill to discuss the budgetary appropriation of funds for the juvenile justice system and other youth-related issues. 

  • Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club has May meeting

    The Club meeting was held in the Colvin Community Center in Radcliff on May 23. President Bev Rickey opened the meeting and Takaris Chancellor, grandson of Nancy Cox, led the opening Pledge to the American Flag.

    Shannon Rickey introduced the evening’s featured speaker, Coleman Eldridge, executive vice president Young Democrats of America. Eldridge is the Executive Assistant to Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

    President Rickey stated that next month the scholarship awardees will present and make the presentations.

  • Fort Knox MOWW Briefed on Work Restitution Program

    The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) held its monthly membership meeting on May 17 in its new clubhouse in Building 2377 on Fort Knox.

  • Center Stage dancers to return to New York

    Yvonne Groves, owner of Center Stage Dance Studio, announces that two students were accepted into the Joffery Ballet Summer Intensive Program in New York City. Caroline Cabezas and Sara Obata will participate in studies of ballet, pointe, modern, character, yoga and health classes under the direction of the Joffery faculty including Francesca Corkle, Dorthy Lister, Michael Anderson, Gelsey Kirkland and Louisville’s Wendy Whelan.

  • Warm Blessings gets much needed help

    Members of Grace Church Elizabethtown are pictured after a morning of cleaning floors, walls and shelves at the Warm Blessings “soup kitchen” located at 609 E. Dixie Elizabethtown.  Grace Church along with other local churches participated in the “In As Much As...” project which is rooted in the biblical scripture from the book of Matthew chapter 25 verse 40.  

  • Eastern Star donates to animal shelter

    Vine Grove Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, welcomed Pam Harrison to the chapter on May 16 to receive donations for the local animal shelter. This is something dear to the groups’ hearts and they have been glad to work with them for the past three years.

  • Brownie Troop collects donations

     Brownie Troop 107 completed their Journey Award by collecting donations of food and toiletries for Helping Hand of Elizabethtown.  

  • Elizabethtown Woman’s Club donates books in memorial

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown has a very lovely tradition of honoring one’s memory at their passing or the memory of an immediate family member such as a spouse or child by giving a book to the Hardin County Public Library. The club lost 11 members and/or spouses this year alone.

     As many in the community are aware, food insecurity situations continue to increase throughout Central and South Central Kentucky due to increasing financial struggles. Fortunately, many individuals, groups and organizations are choosing to make a difference in helping feed the hungry.
