The Club meeting was held in the Colvin Community Center in Radcliff on May 23. President Bev Rickey opened the meeting and Takaris Chancellor, grandson of Nancy Cox, led the opening Pledge to the American Flag.

Shannon Rickey introduced the evening’s featured speaker, Coleman Eldridge, executive vice president Young Democrats of America. Eldridge is the Executive Assistant to Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

President Rickey stated that next month the scholarship awardees will present and make the presentations.

Yvonne Groves, owner of Center Stage Dance Studio, announces that two students were accepted into the Joffery Ballet Summer Intensive Program in New York City. Caroline Cabezas and Sara Obata will participate in studies of ballet, pointe, modern, character, yoga and health classes under the direction of the Joffery faculty including Francesca Corkle, Dorthy Lister, Michael Anderson, Gelsey Kirkland and Louisville’s Wendy Whelan.

Vine Grove Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, welcomed Pam Harrison to the chapter on May 16 to receive donations for the local animal shelter. This is something dear to the groups’ hearts and they have been glad to work with them for the past three years.

The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown has a very lovely tradition of honoring one’s memory at their passing or the memory of an immediate family member such as a spouse or child by giving a book to the Hardin County Public Library. The club lost 11 members and/or spouses this year alone.
