• Boy Scout Troops 151 and 369 consolidate

    Locust Grove Baptist Church, 1817 Red Mill Road in Elizabethtown announces the consolidation of Boy Scout Troop 151 of Hodgenville with Boy Scout Troop 369, chartered by the church.

    The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

    Boy Scouts are open to boys ages 11 to 18 and meeting are at 7 p.m. Mondays.

  • Bluegrass Cellular 5K event raises $11,509 for Hardin County community

    More than 500 walkers and runners took to the streets of Elizabethtownon Aug. 24 as part of the Bluegrass Cellular 5K event, an annual race that raises money for the Hardin County community. The 5K portion of the event brought in $10,719 this year, which will be donated to local high-school cross country teams. The proceeds from the One-Mile Fun Run/Walk, $790, will be donated to Greenspace Inc., a nonprofit organization that maintains the walking trails in Hardin County.

The ladies were among volunteers to work the Hardin County booth at the 2013 Kentucky State Fair.

  • Sharlows celebrate 35th anniversary

    Steven and Elsa Gonzalez Sharlow of Radcliff will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary Sept. 19, 2013.

    They were married Sept. 19, 1978, in Balboa, Canal Zone, Republic of Panama.

    Mrs. Sharlow is a Spanish language teacher with Hardin County Schools and a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Elizabethtown.

    Mr. Sharlow is a logistics management specialist with the U.S. Army at Fort Knox. He also is a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Elizabethtown.

    They have two sons, Jeremy Sharlow of Campbellsville and Aaron Sharlow of Columbia.

    Debbie Goodwin and Nick Meshew of Lexington announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Thomas L. Britt and the late Yong Hui Britt. A graduate of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, she is a registered nurse.

    The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Meshew. A graduate of South West Texas Junior College, he is an information technology manager.

    A June 7, 2014 wedding is planned.
