  • Peyton Fields named Miss Pre-Teen at Nelson County Fair

    Peyton McKenna Fields, 11, daughter of Casey Fields and Stacey Loftus of Elizabethtown was named winner of the Miss Pre-Teen Nelson County Fair Pageant on July 18.

  • Hall named July CKAG Artist of the Month

    Mary Lou Hall of Elizabethtown was chosen Artist of the Month at the July meeting of the Central Kentucky Art Guild. The painting will hang at the Cobblers’ Café in Elizabethtown for a month. The reflection watercolor is from a photo she took of her husband and his Bentley automobile. It is titled “Ben And He.” The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20, at Nolin RECC in Elizabethtown. Visitors and artists always are welcome to the meeting and program.

    Bennie D. and Mary Lynn Jones Warren will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary July 23, 2012.

    They were married July 23, 1972.

    They have two sons, Bow and Cody; and four grandchildren.

  • Parents welcome Kloey Rayne

    Alex and Katelyn Riggs of Clarkson announce the birth of a daughter, Kloey Rayne Riggs, on June 5, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Paul and Sara Riggs of Clarkson; and paternal grandparents are Steve and Denise Riggs of Upton.

    Paul and Darlene Robinson and Michael and Lois Prahl of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kimberly Sue Prahl, to Matthew Parker Stephens, son of Mitch and Melinda Stephens of Frankfort.

    The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of John Hardin High School and 2009 graduate of Thomas More College. She has a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and is employed by Givaudan in Cincinnati.

  • Scott celebrates 90th birthday

    Jack J. Scott of Elizabethtown will celebrate his 90th birthday on  July 27, 2012.

    He was born July 27, 1922 in Big Spring.

    He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II and is a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He was the first president of Citizen’s Bank, now First Citizens Bank, and was the chairman of the Bicentennial Committee for Hardin County in 1976.
