    Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ward III of Louisville and Dr. and Mrs. David Hamilton of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Carrie Elizabeth Ward and David Anthony Hamilton Jr.

    The bride-to-be received her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and is employed by the Kroger Company in Mount Sterling. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ward Jr. of Farmville, Va. 

  • Woman’s Club donates to Relay

    Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown members supported the Relay for Life for cancer survivors and/or families supporting the American Cancer Society. Those offering monetary support were, from left, Regina Lancaster, Diane Willis, Jeanne Smith, Barbara Mills, Melanie Parker Hibbard and Rosemary Deaton as well as the chair for the drive, Bobbi Dille. Making a donation but not pictured was Martha Mengel.

  • Johnson recognized for community service

    Radcliff Woman’s Club member, Vada Johnson, completed her third year of volunteer service to the AARP Tax-Aide Program in April. Johnson is pictured at the Hardin county Public Library site checking the client schedule for the day with area coordinator John Hanna.

  • Drill team participates in Pegasus preview and parade

    The Hardin County “Company B” Equestrian Drill Team participated in the Pegasus preview at the Kentucky Fair and Expo center and rode in the famous Pegasus Parade in Louisville. The team has participated in several parades and rodeos in this region as well as drill team competitions in Kentucky and Tennessee. The riders are members of the Hardin County 4-H Trailblazers horse club. The 4-H teaches youth ages 9 to 18 how to care for their horse, equitation and good horsemanship. The team is coached by NeVelle Skaggs

  • Allegro students dance with Lula Washington

    Recently, students from Allegro Dance Theatre auditioned for and were invited to dance with the Lula Washington Dance Theatre of California. Bart Lovins of the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center invited this professional modern dance troupe to perform at the center. Lula and her husband had come earlier in the summer to speak with dance school directors Carol E. Zagar of Allegro, and Sherry Barnard of the Dance Centre of Elizabethtown.

    Randi Campbell of St. Louis and Clinton Owens of Louisville announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Andrew Campbell and Michelle Allgood of St. Louis. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a master’s degree in teaching.

    Frederick Lewis and Nannie Berry Dohn of Rineyville celebrated their 50th anniversary May 4, 2012.

    They were married May 4, 1962, at New Salem Baptist Church in Vine Grove by the Rev. William R. Smith. Maid of honor was Betty Berry Miller, sister of the bride, and best man was Dr. Roger Goodwin, cousin of the groom.
