  • Bells welcome Ashlyn Harper

    Bryan and Megan Bell of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a daughter, Ashlyn Harper Bell, on July 10, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19½ inches long.

    She has a sister, Taylor Bell.

    Maternal grandparents are Roger and Marchitta Lucas of Cecilia. Paternal grandparents are Danny and Peggy Bell of Cecilia.

    Great-grandparents are Pearl Bell, Everett and Anna Jean Rider, Jean Lucas and Dottie Peters.

  • National Sojourners members gather for meeting

    Kentucky Chapter No. 134, National Sojourners Inc., Fort Knox President Allen Davis, Steve Heinrich and his son, Chris, master counselor of the Lincoln Chapter of the Order of DeMolay, and Don Shaw, chapter secretary and treasurer and a member of the Radcliff City Council, gather at the monthly meeting Sept. 4. An initiation of Steve Heinrich, Junior Warden of Camp Knox Masonic Lodge No. 919, was conducted. The chapter will celebrate its 75th anniversary in May of its patriotic- military-masonic service to the nation and local community.

  • Combined efforts make Foam 161 parade a success

    On Sept. 10, I had the honor and privilege of serving as the parade coordinator for Foam 161, the fire truck that was severely damaged during the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. The parade was meant to specifically honor the three firefighters who were there on that fateful day and to honor in general all of the emergency service workers in our county and surrounding counties who stand ready to risk their lives for others on a daily basis. The parade was a resounding success.

  • Nealy graduates from basic training

    NEALY. Air Force Airman Qurtez X. Nealy graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. A 2012 graduate of North Hardin High School, he is the son of Donika White of Vine Grove.

  • Etherton graduates from basic training

    ETHERTON. Army Pfc. Margaret D. Etherton has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2011 graduate of Hardin County High School, she is the granddaughter of Michael Clagett of Lebanon Junction.

  • VFW donates to Veterans Assistance Center

    Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10281 voted to make a $500 donation to the Vine Grove Veterans Assistance Center.

    According to Ralph Martinez, center team leader, “The Vine Grove Veterans Assistance Center assists veterans, survivors and dependents applying for veterans’ benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense.” The team members are veterans themselves, who have prepared training materials and informational handouts and distribute them to individuals seeking help.
