  • Brownie Troop collects donations

     Brownie Troop 107 completed their Journey Award by collecting donations of food and toiletries for Helping Hand of Elizabethtown.  

  • Elizabethtown Woman’s Club donates books in memorial

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown has a very lovely tradition of honoring one’s memory at their passing or the memory of an immediate family member such as a spouse or child by giving a book to the Hardin County Public Library. The club lost 11 members and/or spouses this year alone.

     As many in the community are aware, food insecurity situations continue to increase throughout Central and South Central Kentucky due to increasing financial struggles. Fortunately, many individuals, groups and organizations are choosing to make a difference in helping feed the hungry.

  • MOWW commander-in-chief visits Fort Knox chapter

    The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars conducted a Youth Leadership Conference with the Kentucky Bluegrass ChalleNge Academy Cadets on May 21 at the Patton Museum on Fort Knox.
    The MOWW National Commander-in-Chief Retired Col. Clifford Way was visiting the Fort Knox chapter to observe the chapter’s revised structure of the leadership training program. As a result, he was impressed with the approach and will recommend that other chapters consider employing the same version of the instruction.

  • Northern Hardin County Democratic Women welcome candidates

    The Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club recently met at Colvin Community Center in Radcliff. Featured speakers were Allison Grimes and Elaine Walker candidates for Kentucky Secretary of State.

    The local Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc host it’s Alpha in White Scholarship Gala which supports local students with money for college. Pictured are Marcus Ray, Carl Millsap, Major Kurt Hinton and Radcliff City Councilman Stan Holmes.

  • Williamson speaks to Radcliff Woman’s Club members

    Cathy Williamson, branch manager of the Lincoln Trail Area Better Business Bureau, was the speaker at the Radcliff Woman’s Club meeting May 9. Although Williamson’s duties are 50 percent educating the public and 50 percent getting new members, the former is now her primary focus. She spoke of the numerous scams bombarding the community. She stressed that members check closely their credit card, cell phone, bank statement and all financial transactions carefully for unauthorized use.

  • Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman's Club members help with Easter egg hunt

    Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club members helped Radcliff Optimist Club with its annual Easter egg hunt. Due to inclement weather, the event was held in North Hardin High School. Pictured are Bev Rickey, Jessie Lee, the Easter Bunny, JoAnn Winkenhofer and Portia Petties.

  • Local church, Boy Scouts clean up Buffalo Lake

    The local congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with members of GreenSpace and Boy Scout Troop 668, spent May 21 cleaning up litter, clearing pathways and preparing a scout camping area at Buffalo Lake.

    Around 70 people, church members, scouts and community leaders, helped in the effort. Roughly 225 hours of service were donated.

  • Kendell earns title of Artist of the Month

    The Central Kentucky Art Guild named Wes Kendell of Louisville Artist of the Month at the May meeting. Kendell’s oil painting, “Pap’s Treasure” was a rendition of the side of a friends barn and items attached to it. The Central Kentucky Art Guild meetings are at 6:30 p.m. the third Monday of the month at the Nolin RECC building on Ring Road in Elizabethtown. Visitors are welcome.
