  • VFW, Auxiliary host Memorial Day ceremony
  • Huffine graduates from basic training

    Seaman Apprentice James E. Huffine graduated from basic training June 22, 2012, at the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill. He now is attending advanced training for machinist’s mate at the center.

  • Thompson graduates from basic training

    THOMPSON. Air Force Airman Ronald J. Thompson II recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of North Hardin Christian School, he is the son of Ronald Thompson Sr. of Radcliff.

  • VFW supports Boy’s State

    Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10281 provided funds for one participant to attend Boys’ State, which promotes interest in the political process. Bob Castle from American Legion Post 113 accepts the check from Post Commander Butch Ferrell.

  • VFW, Ladies Auxiliary members participate in Memorial Day service

    Members of VFW Post 10281 and Ladies Auxiliary attended the Memorial Day service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff. Guests at the cemetery were offered bottles of water by VFW members Butch Ferrell, Scot VanTassell and Steve Egan, while Ladies Auxiliary members, President Connie Burke and Inge Pope, offered cookies. Other Auxiliary members present but not pictured were Jenina Montgomery, Barbara Gregory and Debbie Ferrell.

  • Miss Hardin County Pre-teen Pageant contestants

    The Miss Hardin County Pre-teen Pageant, ages 8 through 12, is at 7:30 p.m. July 14. Miss Hardin County Pre-teen 2011 Kylie Fox will crown this year’s winner. Fourteen young ladies will compete for this year’s title. They include:

    Breanna Burba, 8, daughter of Jeremy and Jennifer Burba of Cecilia.

    Aneisha Cox, 9, daughter of Lora and Ronald Bradford of Radcliff.

    Rachel Cummins, 10, daughter of Douglas and Sherri Cummins of Cecilia.

    Laci Eads, 9, daughter of Leighandra Eads and Josh Eads, both of Upton.

  • Boy Scouts attend week-long camp

    Boy Scouts of Troop 24 in Elizabethtown recently attended a week-long Boy Scout resident camp. The scouts camped at Camp Crooked Creek, which is on the 1,000 plus acre Harry S. Frazier Jr. Scout Reservation in Clermont. Scouts were able to participate in shooting sports, high adventure activities, fishing, swimming, sailing and other activities. Troops had the opportunity to earn merit badges and obtain skills and knowledge to make their year-round program safer and more fun. Pictured are scouts and leaders of Troop 24.

  • Radcliff Woman’s Club members cater luncheon

     

    Radcliff Woman’s Club members catered the Heart of Kentucky Realtors luncheon June 4 at Colvin Community Center.  It was a salad luncheon with 15 different salads. The dessert was Barbara Proffitt’s famous pecan pie and Linda Novak’s sugar-free strawberry torte.

    Catering the meal is one of the many ways the club raises funds for its many community projects.

  • Radcliff Democratic Headquarters is closed in July

    Radcliff Democratic Headquarters’ is closed for the month of July and will re-open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 1. For information, call Jeanette Stephens, 351-8600
