  • Radcliff Woman’s Club represents Hardin County

    Radcliff Woman’s Club members Anne Flanagan, Jeannene Shipp, Margo Kampe, Barbara Proffitt, Pat Nuccitelli, Doris Browder, Becky Brecht and Florence Mason recently shared their enthusiasm about the local community with hundreds of people. The ladies were among volunteers to work the Hardin County booth at the 2013 Kentucky State Fair.

    Bob and Roseann Thrush and Bob and Rita Goodin, all of Elizabethtown, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Brittany Thrush and Chad Goodin, both of Elizabethtown.

    The wedding is Oct. 6, 2013, in Fairhope, Ala.

  • Sharlows celebrate 35th anniversary

    Steven and Elsa Gonzalez Sharlow of Radcliff will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary Sept. 19, 2013.

    They were married Sept. 19, 1978, in Balboa, Canal Zone, Republic of Panama.

    Mrs. Sharlow is a Spanish language teacher with Hardin County Schools and a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Elizabethtown.

    Mr. Sharlow is a logistics management specialist with the U.S. Army at Fort Knox. He also is a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Elizabethtown.

    They have two sons, Jeremy Sharlow of Campbellsville and Aaron Sharlow of Columbia.

    Debbie Goodwin and Nick Meshew of Lexington announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Thomas L. Britt and the late Yong Hui Britt. A graduate of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, she is a registered nurse.

    The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Meshew. A graduate of South West Texas Junior College, he is an information technology manager.

    A June 7, 2014 wedding is planned.

    Where has the summer gone? I can hardly grasp the fact that fall already is upon us. I have noticed that many leaves on the trees in our yard are beginning to turn yellow and fall off. Fall is a beautiful time of the year, but it is hard for me to enjoy the beauty, for realizing that winter is just around the corner. Hopefully it will be a snowless winter. I know many of my cowriters can hardly wait for snow. Well it isn’t impossible to suit everyone.

    John and Inge Ginn of Radcliff announce the birth of a great-granddaughter, Sophia Grace Koenig, on Aug. 10, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

    Parents are John and Kelsey Koenig of St. Louis.

    Grandparents are Tim and Angela Ginn Koenig of Cincinnati and Ron and Cindy Gjerstad of Jackson, Mo.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of David and Connie Dowers of Union. A 2012 graduate of Ryle High School, she is a 4.0 student at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College studying elementary education.

    The prospective groom is the son of Ricky Carter of Hodgenville and LeAnna Miller of Elizabethtown. A 2010 graduate of LaRue County High School, he is a welder at Altec.
