  • Elizabethtown Rotary Club members welcome Hepperman

  • Griendling speaks to Radcliff Rotary Club members

    A recent guest of the Radcliff Rotary Club was Rich Griendling of Elizabethtown. Griendling is the designer and sculptor for the Hardin County Veterans Tribute. The Hardin County Veterans Tribute will be a monument to show Hardin County citizens’ respect and gratitude to each and every veteran, living or deceased, who has served his or her country with honor and dignity, commitment, courage and sacrifice, so everyone can live safe and free. The Veterans Tribute will be located in the new Nature Park located on Ring Road, just north of Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown.

  • Elizabethtown Lions Club members welcome Martha Andrews

    Martha Andrews, sponsored by past president Brian Dennis, was installed as the Elizabethtown Lions Club’s newest member at the May 29 meeting. Installing Lion Andrews was past president and president-elect for 2012-13 Lion Morris Bottoms. Lion Andrews, a native of Michigan, has served in the Navy and now is a physical therapist with the Wounded Warriors SARP Program at Fort Knox.   • VFW helps fund golf scramble

    Mark Glidden, representing the Fort Knox Derby Chapter United States Army Warrant Officers Association, receives a donation check from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10281 Commander Butch Ferrell. The donation will support a golf scramble fundraising event sponsored by the Warrant Officers Association. The funds from the golf scramble will help in the organization’s support of Feeding America-Kentucky Heartland program.

  • VFW replaces flag at Walmart

    VFW Post 10281 and Ladies Auxiliary recently replaced the flags being flown at Walmart in Radcliff. Carol Hill, incoming Ladies Auxiliary president, Butch Ferrell, incoming VFW post commander, Bob Pack, outgoing post commander, and Dean Parsons, VFW post service officer, took down the worn American flag and replaced it with a new Walmart American flag, then added a POW/MIA flag donated by the VFW.

  • Elizabethtown Lions Club honors longtime members

    During the month of June, the Elizabethtown Lions Club recognized and honored longtime members of the club, Lions Bill Swope and Andre Beaugrand, as they celebrated their 90th birthdays. Both men are a treasure to the club and the community. Lions Swope and Beaugrand have dedicated their lives to humanitarian efforts while living the Lion’s motto, “We serve.”

  • Order of the Eastern Star members contribute to SpringHaven

    Vine Grove Chapter No. 122, Order of the Eastern Star recently collected items from several chapter members for the SpringHaven Domestic Violence Shelter in Elizabethtown. Members met some of staff who serve the vital need in the community. Its mission is to educate communities, be agents for social change and empower victims of domestic violence to become survivors by providing shelter, advocacy and education.

  • Hollenbach named CKAG Artist of the Month

    Marty Hollenbach was chosen as Artist of the Month at the June meeting of the Central Kentucky Art Guild. Her watercolor collage is titled, “ The Sea Party.” It will be displayed in Cobbler’s Café in Elizabethtown for a month. The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. July 16 at the Nolin RECC building, 411 Ring Road in Elizabethtown. Visitors always are welcome at the meeting and program.
