• Grandparents welcome Riley Claire Brooks

    Ricky and Sandy Brooks of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a granddaughter, Riley Claire Brooks, on March 28, 2013. She weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Parents are Christopher and Jennifer Brooks of Lancaster.

    Additional grandparents are John and Linda Crace of Lancaster.

    Great-grandparents are Pauline Maddox of Nicholasville, Chester and Margaret Brooks of Rineyville and Clifford and Mary Thompson of Elizabethtown.

  • 4-Hers participate in horse show

    Kentucky is known for its horses so there is no wonder the state 4-H Horse Show has such a large group of youth participating July 5 through 13 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville. As a result of their involvement in county, district, state and national events, 4-Hers gain a sense of belonging from the camaraderie with others with similar interests and often share their expertise with their families and others in the community.

  • Motorcyle club has flag retirement ceremony


    On June 15, a flag retirement ceremony took place at the Chapter B, Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Clubhouse in Flaherty.

    The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Motorcycle Club holds this event annually. The public was invited to attend and witness the ceremony on how to properly retire worn and torn U.S. flags. Master of Ceremonies was Brother Deacon from Sons of God Motorcycle Club.

  • Mercer graduates from basic training

       MERCER. Air Force Airman 1st Class Jamonee Y. Cisero Mercer graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. A 2011 graduate of Shaw High School in Columbus, Ga., she is the daughter of Shantel Cisero of Killeen, Texas, and Jermaine Mercer Jr. of Fort Knox.

  • Shumate speaks to Radcliff Rotary Club members

    Radcliff Rotary Club President-elect Fran Rolwing welcomes Bryce Shumate, spokesman for the Radcliff Police Department and city of Radcliff, as guest speaker at a recent meeting. He previewed the “Summer Blast” festival with food booths, beauty contests, 5k run and 50-cent carnival rides.

  • Hardin County Community Fair begins Monday

    The Hardin County Community Fair and Horse Show is July 8 through 13. Hardin County Homemakers, Hardin County Master Gardeners, Hardin County 4-H agents, Stitchers Quilt Club and Elizabethtown Garden Club once again will be taking in exhibits for competition and display in the Family Living Hall.
