    I hope every father had a joyful Father’s Day and got to enjoy some time with his family. I’m sure there are many who did not spend time with family, for many different reasons, and to them I hope the day was a happy one anyway.

  • Dermitt – Blanton

    Junior Ray and Anita Sanders announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Misty Dermitt, to Anthony Blanton, son of Dewayne and Linda Blanton.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Grayson County High School and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College with a degree in business administration and accounting.

    The prospective groom is a graduate of Central Hardin High School.

    The wedding is June 30, 2012, at Mcgrew Church.

    Formal invitations have been sent.

    Jeffrey and Rita Horn of Radcliff and Richard Conklin and Teresa Conklin, both of Radcliff, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Brittany Horn and Rick Conklin, both of Radcliff.

    The bride-to-be, a 2005 graduate of John Hardin High School, attends Empire Beauty School.

    The prospective groom, a 2001 graduate of Fort Knox High School, serves with the Kentucky National Guard.

    The wedding is Aug. 25, 2012, in Louisville.

  • Abigail welcomes Hunter Alexander Beck

    Abigail Lauren Beck of Clinton, Tenn., announces the birth of a brother, Hunter Alexander Beck, on May 22, 2012, in Knoxville, Tenn. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Parents are William and Christina Beck of Clinton.

    Grandparents are Patrick and Josephine Beck of Vine Grove, J.P. and Cheryl Phillips of Knoxville and Jack and Renee Anderson of Georgia.

  • Iron Soldiers has charity ride

    The Iron Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Radcliff held its seventh annual Ride for Charity on June 2. The recipient of the $400 raised this year was Helping Hand of Hope. Carolyn Culver from Helping Hand of Hope was on hand to explain the function of the agency in the community. Also, the Radcliff Police Department gave a presentation. Auto Zone and Fun for All Motorsports donated prizes to be auctioned.

  • Phillips speaks to Tourism Commission members

    On June 4 Hank Phillips, deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism participated in the Radcliff/Fort Knox Convention and Tourism Commission’s “Lunch and Learn Tourism Session.”  Commissioner Phillips’ presentation touched on the mission of the Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism, the State’s Tourism Marketing Incentives Program and the new “There's Only One” advertising campaign that has been a huge success. The “Lunch and Learn Tourism Session” is an annual event.

    Warm Blessings Volunteers from Sonora United Methodist Church are pictured at Warm Blessings on their regular night of serving and cleaning up at the soup kitchen.They also presented a donation to Warm Blessings from the church Sunday school ministry’s quarterly community donation.   • Feeding America receives produce through Farms to Food Banks Program

    Boxes full of fresh zucchini, yellow squash and broccoli recently were delivered to Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland as the 2012 Farms to Food Banks program kicked off. The food bank will distribute the produce through its network of partner distribution agencies in central Kentucky.

    Also, Kentuckians will have a new opportunity to join the fight against hunger by donating a portion of their income tax refund to support the Farms to Food Banks Trust Fund.
