• Col. Kallman speaks to Radcliff Rotary

    A recent Radcliff Rotary Club guest speaker was Col. Thomas Kallman, commander, Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (ARRTC) at Fort Knox.

    Kallman briefed club members on the function and mission of ARRTC, which now occupies part of the footprint vacated by the Armor School during the BRAC move. One of several training centers around the country, the Fort Knox center trains hundreds of reservists year-round, most of whom spend a week or two in a Radcliff motel adding to the local economy.

    Cookies might have a new definition in the computer realm, but members of the Radcliff Woman’s Club recently showered the local military community with traditional cookies during its participation in the eighth annual Hooray for Heroes event May 18 at Stithton Baptist Church in Radcliff. The event is a salute to local military and emergency service personnel and their families.

    Kenneth and Sandra Taylor Henson of Cecilia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a stay at Moors Resort with their children’s families.

    They were married June 7, 1963, at Olive Baptist Church with Brother Richard Edmiston officiating.

    Mr. and Mrs. Henson are retired and enjoy traveling.

    They have four children, Vicki Basham of Cecilia and Annita Cook, Tracy Henson and Marty Henson, all of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

    Mike and Shelia Lewis of Elizabethtown announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Lewis of Lexington, to Nathan Bay of Lexington, son of Ken and Sharon Bay of Pickerington, Ohio.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Transylvania University and is a mortgage loan originator.

    The prospective groom is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and is a Kentucky Colonel. He also is a mortgage loan originator.

    The wedding is at 4 p.m. June 23, 2013, in Key West, Fla. A reception will follow this summer in Lexington.
