  • Mutts, Moms and Music Festival supports new animal shelter

      

  • Woman’s Club members present donation to Veterans’ Hospital

    Eight members of the Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown visited the Veterans’ Hospital in Louisville to deliver a year-long collection of magazines and books from the chapter book exchange. Two car trunks were filled with 261 paperback books, 430 magazines, assorted soaps, lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioners, deodorants, dental floss, note cards, greeting cards, shaving lotion, razors and more. The staff at the VA hospital were very appreciative of the goods received on the annual visit by club members.

  • Democratic Woman’s Club features Kathy Groob as guest speaker

    The Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club will feature “Pink Politics” author Kathy Groob as guest speaker at the meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 21 at Colvin Community Center in Radcliff.

    Through her book “Pink Politics,” a practical guide for women who want to run for any political office, Groob shares her own experiences as a candidate and offers women a realistic assessment of what it takes to win.

  • Woman’s club members donate books to library

     

    A project that is very dear to the hearts of members of Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown is the donation of a book to the Hardin County Public Library in the memory of a deceased member or spouse of a member.

    Mitchell and Charlotte Grimes and Anthony and Tonda Underwood, all of Hodgenville, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Carrie E. Grimes and Adam C. Underwood, both of Hodgenville.

    The wedding is at 2 p.m. May 19, 2012, at Gospel of Grace Baptist Church in Hodgenville with a reception to follow at the church.

    Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. I hope to spend the day with my mom and the rest of the family. It is such a blessing to still have my mother with me. I wish everyone a happy day whether it be spent with your mother or just with her memory.
       The rain we received the other night was wonderful for our gardens. This week in the Turpin household is lots of yard work.

    Brenda and John Thomas of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their son, Zach Thomas of Elizabethtown, to Angela Buckles of Sonora, daughter of Mary and Randy Buckles of Sonora.

    The bride-to be, a 2004 graduate of Murray State University, is employed at Heartland Primary Care.

    The prospective groom, a 2008 graduate of the University of Kentucky, is employed at LG & E.

    The weather has been somewhat warm, but by the middle of the week it got cooler. We got some needed rain. Many talk about how low water levels are at the rivers and lakes.

    Hello everyone, I hope this finds you all doing well. I had a lady from Big Clifty call and share with me she had a wonderful Sunday. Lena Aubrey was happy her son, Donald, and his wife, Susan, came down from Louisville and their daughter, Beverly, and her son, for a good visit. Lena also shared that a friend of hers, Doris Petty, comes and visits with her a lot. Lena was very happy about the visits she has had. This was the first time I had spoken with Lena. She is very pleasant and I hope to hear more about her and her company.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Lisa Burnett of Elizabethtown and the late Bradley Burnett. She is an administrative assistant at Swope Toyota.

    The prospective groom is the son of John and Susan Mudd of Lebanon. He is a technician at Scott Nalls in Elizabethtown.

    The wedding is at 5 p.m. May 19, 2012, at Spalding Hall Lawn in Bardstown with a reception to follow in the Spalding Hall Penthouse.
