  • Radcliff Rotary inducts Bell

  • Hawkinses celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

    Donald and Peggy Hawkins of Hodgenville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception in their honor from 2 to 5 p.m., April 14, 2012, at Sportsman’s Lake in Hodgenville.

    They were married April 14, 1962 in Salina, Tenn., by the Rev. Robert Holland.

    They have four children, Kenneth Hawkins, Dawnna McMahan, Jason Hawkins and Lance Hawkins; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

  • NARFE meets and plans

    Elizabethtown NARFE Chapter 1050 met in April for their monthly membership meeting. Chapter president Kay Bennett reminded the group of the Public Service appreciation day at Fort Knox on  May 10, and the National Convention from August 26-30 in Nevada.

  • Rolling Thuder has March meeting

    Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Kentucky monthly membership and business meeting was held on March 4 at Lebanon Junction Community Center. Charley Wachowski read a section of the constitution to the members. Petra Gill, Kent Myers and Randall Brantley received patches. The chapter received two new members, Joe Newton Sr. and Glen Wilkins. 

  • Potter graduates from basic training

    POTTER. Army Reserve Pvt. Joseph L. Potter has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2010 graduate of Central Hardin High School in Cecilia, he is the son of Robert Potter of Elizabethtown.

  • Zamora graduates basic training

    ZAMORA. Army National Guard Pvt. Brandon E. Zamora has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2011 graduate of North Hardin High School in Radcliff, he is the son of Kellie Logsdon West Point.

    COODE. Army Pfc. Gregory Coode has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2009 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, he is the son of Peter Coode of Loveland, Colo., and the brother of Michael Coode of Fort Collins, Colo.

    SCHOOL NEWS. Just a reminder Hardin County Schools are on spring break this week. School will resume April 16.

    Lakewood Elementary School fifth-graders have returned from a 2-day trip to Huntsville, Ala. They visited the space and Rocket Center.

  • Hoffman — Montgomery

    Bobby and Lisa Hoffman of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kara Hoffman of Elizabethtown, to Phillip Montgomery of Louisville, son of Olan and Sylvia Morris of Rineyville and the late Harry Montgomery.

    The bride-to-be is a branch manager at Kentucky Neighborhood Bank.

    The prospective groom is a technical sergeant in the Kentucky Air National Guard.

    The wedding is May 11, 2012, at St. Christopher Catholic Church with a reception at Tony York’s on Main in Glendale.
