• Donalson serves as Army recruiter in Chicago

    Army Sgt. Charnelle R. Donalson has arrived for duty as an Army recruiter assigned to the Chicago Army Recruiting Battalion at Glendale Heights Army Recruiting Station in Illinois. She has served in the military for four years. A 2007 graduate of Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn., she is the daughter of Arvetta Donalson of Radcliff.

  • Brown named Lions EHS Student of the Month

    At the Oct. 9 meeting of the Elizabethtown Lions Club, Lion Al Mather introduced the club’s Elizabethtown High School Student of the Month Ben Brown. He has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average in school while playing soccer for five years. He has received the highest end of course assessment score in social studies of all 2012-13 seniors.   • Delta Kappa Gamma Mu Chapter meets

    The Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International has begun a new biennium under the leadership of President Lois Pierce.

    At a recent meeting, membership chairwoman Cherie Mingus conducted an initiation ceremony for Diana Bennett. Members welcomed this retired Hardin County Schools educator, who is active in many organizations, especially Special Olympics.

  • Goldenrod Homemakers has September meeting

    The Goldenrod Homemakers met Sept. 11 at the Hardin County Extension Office. Club members answered roll call to name your favorite fall recipe.

    Alice Bennett gave the lesson on “What Every Woman Should Know About Money.” She also was the hostess.

    The club will meet in October at the Hardin County Extension Office with Nadine Bush as hostess and Mary Martin as lesson leader.

  • Vine Grove Woman’s Club members celebrate library grand opening

    The Vine Grove Woman’s Club celebrated the grand opening of the Community Lending Library on Oct. 2. The hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitors are invited to exchange, borrow or donate books. There is an extensive variety as well as a children’s section. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Vine Grove City Hall.   • Elizabethtown High School Class of ’57 gathers for reunion

    The Elizabethtown High School Class of 1957 held its 55th class reunion the weekend of Oct. 12. On Friday afternoon, a potluck, hosted by Cliff and Carolyn Horn, was held at a pavilion at Sportsman Lake. On Saturday, lunch was at Back Home and some classmates attended the showing of a Don Knotts movie at the State Theater. Saturday evening, dinner was at Stone Hearth and afterward classmates spent time reminiscing. Sunday morning, several attended a farewell breakfast at Panera. Approximately 20 classmates, along with spouses or friends, attended some or all of the events.
