• Greers celebrate 50th anniversary

    Stanley Monroe and Clara Dorleen Duncan Greer of Cecilia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 28, 2013.

    They were married June 28, 1963, at Falls of Rough Methodist Church by the Rev. Finley Hardison. Attendants were Ella Mae Duncan and Shorty Duncan.

    They met while Mrs. Duncan worked at The Knob Coffee Shop. Mr. Greer would giggle while placing an order at the window and Mrs. Greer loved his laugh.

  • Millers announce birth of daughter

    Allison and Ronnie Miller of Vine Grove announce the birth of a daughter, Alexis Ann Miller, on June 3, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6.5 pounds and was 18 inches long.

    She has two sisters, Rosetta Miller and Annabelle Miller, both of Vine Grove.

    Maternal grandparents are Mary Clark and Michael Hancock, both of Vine Grove; and paternal grandparents are Retta and Ronald Miller Sr. of Vine Grove.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana has ribbon cutting

    The Hardin County Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a ribbon cutting for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, 2491 S. Dixie Boulevard in Radcliff on May 22, celebrating its grand opening at the new location. Pictured at the Ribbon Cutting are Jeri Swinton-CEO Big Brother Big Sister of Kentuckiana; Kevin Clark-local director; State Sen. Dennis Parrett; Philip Tabb-chamber ambassador president; Brian Smith, State Rep. Brett Guthrie’s office; and chamber ambassadors, staff and friends.

  • Guardians donate to HMH Cancer Care Center

    Radcliff/Vine Grove Guardians of the Ribbon, from left, Sam Pearson, Radcliff Fire Chief Jamie Henderson, Bob Mahanna, John Vandermolen, Larry Calvert, Shawn Seymour and Vine Grove Fire Chief Steven New present 50 $25 gas cards to Ray Poston, center, director of Hardin Memorial Health Cancer Care Center. These cards will be given to patients who do not have transportation to the hospital for their treatments.

  • HMH Auxiliary doles out awards

    On May 30, Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held it’s annual awards banquet at Pritchard Community Center.

    The auxiliary donated $89,040 from April 2012 through March 2013 for everything from vehicles to yarn for baby hats.

    Fifty auxiliary members received awards for their hours, which ranged from 100 hours to 16,000 hours of service. Ruby Parker received the highest award for her service.

    Vice-President Carrico installed the new officers and explained their duties.

  • Antique named Homemaker of the Year

    Through the University of Kentucky Agricultural Extension Office in Hardin County, Whitney Antique was voted by state officers as Homemaker of the Year for Hardin County. Extension director Teran Ransom presents the award at the annual homemakers meeting.

    The William R. Burns Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 39 in Radcliff recently accepted two new members, John C. Leslie and Angel T. Rivera. The next FOP meeting is July 11 and will include the lodge picnic for members and their families.

  • Drakes welcome Jase Wayne

    Brad and Kayleigh Drake of Radcliff announce the birth of a son, Jase Wayne Drake, on May 23, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Charlie and Connie Drake and Jim and Becky Pitts, all of Vine Grove.

  • Zonta has baby shower for SpringHaven

    The Zonta Club of Elizabethtown held its May meeting at Heartland Golf Course on May 23 and new officers were installed. President Ruth Ellen Stanley; first vice-president Julia Workman, second vice-president Gail Crain, secretary Sue Story and treasurer Crystal Tilton.

    The program and service project for the month was a baby shower for new babies at SpringHaven Domestic Violence Shelter.
