    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Carl Jr. and Lola Stewart of Millwood. She is a certified surgical technologist and first assistant at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    The prospective groom is the son of Tommy and Frankie Bell of Hodgenville. He is the owner of Craig Bell Electric in Hodgenville.

    The wedding is May 31, 2013, at Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church.

    The stork was kept busy last week, delivering a sweet little girl to Elizabethtown on May 8 to the College Heights United Methodist Church Youth Minister Joe and Andrea Bennett. Sydney was welcomed home by her 2-year-old brother, William.

    On May 9, he took a precious little boy to Bowling Green to my grandson, Brock and Ashley Barnes. Blake was welcomed home by his big brother, 3-year-old Brody.

    Congratulations to both families and wishing them the best in all things.

  • Peterson promoted to brigadier general


    PETERSON. Col. Erik C. Peterson, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox, became Brig. Gen. Erik C. Peterson in a ceremony on historic Brooks Field on May 15.

    An Army Aviation officer, Peterson, received his master of science in geography and cartography from the University of Idaho in 1986. He received his commission through the University of Idaho’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program.

  • Mack named Warrior of the Week

    MACK. Air Force Technical Sgt. Antonio A. Mack has been named Warrior of the Week.

    Mack is a console operations noncommissioned officer-in-charge assigned to the 96th Test Wing/Command Post at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

    The technical sergeant has served in the military for 15 years.

    He is the son of Tony A.J. Mack of Columbia, S.C.

    Mack graduated in 1996 from Fort Knox High School.
