  • First Presbyterian Church members support Warm Blessings

    Members and friends of First Presbyterian Church recently welcomed Warm Blessings volunteers to a weekly Lenten soup supper to recognize the program’s work to serve individuals and families who are at risk in the community.  The Lenten suppers offer a time to emphasize the relationship between God, and human beings, and are an occasion to give thanks for God’s blessings by recognizing how God is working in our community to care for the most vulnerable.

  • Potted Few Garden Club members has program on Habitat

    The Fort Knox Potted Few Garden Club recently met in the Radcliff home of Lahoma Baymor with club member Bonnie Lush as co-host. After members enjoyed the opening social and several brunch treats, club president Anneliese Knoll opened the business meeting.

  • Lupresto named CKAG Artist of the Month

    The Central Kentucky Art Guild held it’s monthly meeting March 19 at Nolin RECC in Elizabethtown. The Artist of the Month, voted on by the membership in attendance, was Joyce Lupresto of Elizabethtown. Her watercolor, “My Tomatoes,” was painted from photographs of her garden. The next meeting is April 16 at Nolin RECC in Elizabethton. Guests and and interested individuals always are welcome. The business meeting and program are part of the regular meeting held the third Monday of the month.

  • Bradleys celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

    Buck and Marlies Bradley of Radcliff will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. April 1, 2012, at the home of Randy and Mary Ames, 161 Collins Drive, Elizabethtown. They also will celebrate with a trip to Las Vegas.

    They were married April 21, 1962, in Berlin, Germany by Pastor Golden.

    Mr. Bradley is retired from the U.S. Army and the post office.

    Mrs. Bradley is a former Kmart employee.

    They are both members of Grace Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Vine Grove.

    ANNIVERSARIES. Congratulations to Wesley and Jo Ann Cardin of Flint Hill, who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 31. They were married March 31, 1062, in Louisville by Brother Alden Puckett in his home. Wesley’s sister, Edith, and her husband were their attendants. They have four children, Wesliann, Mark, Michael and Amy. They also have 12 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

  • Ameses celebrate 25th wedding anniversary

    Randy and Mary Troxell Ames of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary  with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m., April 1, 2012, at their residence, 151 Collins Drive, Elizabethtown.

    They were married April 2, 1987 in Elizabethtown.

    Mr. Ames is a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and is self-employed.

    Mrs. Ames also is a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She is a retired U.S. Army nurse and is a nurse practitioner at Ireland Army Hospital.

    MARCH WEATHER. The month has given us lots of rain, thunderstorms and on March 15 we had lots of hail. It hailed so much at my home, it covered the ground and lasted on the ground for several hours as the temperatures got cooler.

    As I write this column, the temperature is in the 80s. It’s nice, but there is rain in the forecast. Dare I say that winter is behind us?
