  • Rowletts celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

    James “Ed” and Barbara Rowlett of Radcliff recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their home with their family.

    They were married Oct. 6, 1951, in Rossville, Ga.

    Mr. Rowlett is retired from the Army and civil service.

    Mrs. Rowlett is retired from Coldwell Banker Cato Realty.

    Amy Skaggs of Rineyville and Matthew Middleton of Cecilia were married Nov. 12, 2011, at the Great Escape in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., by the Rev. Charles “Buddy” Kamner.

    The bride is the daughter of Wayne and Debbie Skaggs of Rineyville.

    The groom is the son of Margie Jenkins of Cecilia.

    Maid of honor was Jessica Middleton of Elizabethtown, sister of the groom.

    The couple reside in Rineyville.

    Kyle and Amber Davis of Clovis, N.M. announce the birth of a daughter, Tanner Presley Davis, on Sept. 27, 2011.

    She has a sister, Parker, and a brother, Quinton.

    Grandparents are Jim and Karen Davis and Norman and Marsha Jewell, all of Elizabethtown.

    Great-grandmother is Chieko Davis of Radcliff.

    HOLIDAY EVENTS. Just a reminder the annual parade, meal and bridge lighting is tonight in White Mills. The parade is at 5:30 p.m. with lineup at 5 p.m. The meal will be at 6 p.m. and the bridge lighting is at 7:30 p.m. Also, there will be a special tribute to Betty Sallee and her late husband, Grover. Desserts and cookies are needed for the meal.

  • Thompson graduates from Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course

    THOMPSON. Marine Corps Pvt. Zachary C. Thompson, son of Sharon A. and Philip D. Thompson of West Point, recently graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N. C. A 2010 graduate of Bullitt Central High School of Shepherdsville, he joined the Marine Corps in March 2011.

  • Sanders graduates from Marine Urban Breacher course

    SANDERS. Marine Corps Pvt. Quentin K. Sanders, son of Bonita and stepson of Mark Boright of Elizabethtown, recently graduated the Marine Urban Breacher Course at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

    Upon graduation Sanders has become equipped to make sound choices, mitigate hazards and effectively communicate with others involved in a breach.

    Sanders, a 2005 graduate of Franklin High School of Franklin, Tenn., joined the Marine Corps in March 2011.
