• Holmes attends Fair Housing Workshop

    Hosted at the Colvin Community Center this past month was a Fair Housing Workshop in Radcliff by the Kentucky Human Rights Commission. Some in attendance were Jeannette Stephens, guest speaker Juan Pena from the (KHRC), Immigration Attorney Rachel Mendoza, Donna Smalls NAACP vice president, and Radcliff City Councilman Stan Holmes. The workshop covered the laws of fair housing.

  • Garden Club members participate in Habitat home dedication

    The Garden Club of Elizabethtown participated in the dedication of the newest Habitat for Humanity home at 310 East Poplar Street in Elizabethtown on Sept. 8. A gift certificate to purchase gardening supplies was presented to Patricia Crandall, new home owner, by Ann Kowalkoski, Garden Club of Elizabethtown.

    Chapter 1050 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met Sept. 10 at the Nolin RECC Building.

    Kay Bennett presided and welcomed guests, Betty and Gene Yates, family members of Agnes Cofer. Bennett then presented the Distinguished Member Award to Agnes Cofer, past president of Chapter 1050.

  • Warfords celebrate 57th anniversary

    Bob and Yuki Warford will celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary Oct. 3, 2012, at Stone Hearth Restaurant, hosted by their daughters, Caroline Caves and Janet Perkins.

    They were married Oct. 3, 1955, in Tokyo, Japan, followed by a traditional Japanese wedding at the home of Mrs. Warford’s parents.

    Mr. and Mrs. Paul Greenwell of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Emily Susan Greenwell, to Ian Christopher Blaiklock, son of Steven and Karen Blaiklock of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Elizabethtown High School and a 2012 graduate of Transylvania University, where she received a degree in biology. She is employed by Ideal Image in Louisville.

    Hello, this week we are on fall break. I hope everyone is fine and having a good week off. There is not much going on and not much to write about.

    FALL. Fall is here and the weather is coming on and setting in for winter. The leaves are changing and the wind is getting that little bite of a chill in it. When I was a little girl, my mother always would say she could breathe better in cold weather. Now that I am getting older, I understand what she was talking about.
