    FALL. The weather is getting nicer every day since the season of fall is here. Have you got your pumpkins ready for decorating?

    RECEPTION. A wedding shower reception was held for Cory and I on Oct. 8 at Round Top Baptist Church. Approximately 40 family members and friends attended. We received many nice gifts.

    CHHS. The Central Hardin School Marching Band will compete Saturday in another KMEA Contest. Good luck Bruins.

    REUNION. On Oct. 9, the Pawley reunion was held in the White Mills Christian Life Center. There were 28 family members present. Elmer Pawley was able to attend and they celebrated his 93rd birthday.

    NEW ARRIVALS. The Flint Hill Grocery has its honey and molasses for sale. Also it now has an EBT machine.

    OUT AND ABOUT. Elnoah and Kathy Gragson recently enjoyed visiting the Louisville Zoo.

  • Day celebrates 90th birthday

    Robert L. Day of Elizabethtown, will celebrate his 90th birthday Oct. 27, 2011.

    He was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Hardin County, just outside Elizabethtown.

    He is a member of Tunnel Hill Baptist Church and is a former member of the Hardin County Board of Education.

    He was married to the late Norma for more than 65 years until she passed away three years ago.

  • Sprinkles celebrate 25th wedding anniversary

    Charles Jr. and Dana Daugherty Sprinkle of Cecilia will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary from 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 22, 2011, at the home of Glen and Sheila Harrington, 2591 Hardinsburg Road, Cecilia.

    They were married Oct. 25, 1986, at Constantine United Methodist Church by the Rev. Archie Nottingham.

    Mr. Sprinkle is employed at Freeman Lake and is a member of Stephensburg United Methodist Church.

    Mrs. Sprinkle is self-employed and also is a member of Stephensburg United Methodist Church.

  • Bradleys celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

    Eugene and Shirley Bradley of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a celebration of love in their honor, at a later date.

    They were married on Nov. 21, 1961, in Celina, Tenn.

    Mr. Bradley is retired from Dow Corning and owns a plumbing business.

    Mrs. Bradley drove for Hardin County Schools for 30 years and is a bus monitor.

    They have three children, Wendy Taylor of Louisville and Lloyd Bradley and Del Bradley, both of Elizabethtown; and six grandchildren.

    Formal invitations have been sent.

  • Lancasters celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. James A. Lancaster will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an anniversary Mass at 5 p.m., Oct. 22, 2011, at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown.

    They were married Oct. 21, 1961, at St. James Catholic Church by the Rev. Wilfred J. Hayden.

    They have a daughter, Margaret, of Manhattan, N.Y.

    David and Carolyn Drake of LaRue County and Douglas and Betsy Fields of Blue Ash, Ohio, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Carmen Drake and Nick Fields.

    The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of LaRue County High School and a 2010 graduate of Campbellsville University.

    The prospective groom is a 2004 graduate of Sycamore High School in Blue Ash and a 2009 graduate of Campbellsville University.

    Both are music teachers with Edgewood City Schools in Trenton, Ohio.

    The wedding is Oct. 29, 2011, at Gilead Baptist Church in Glendale with a reception at Tony York’s on Main in Glendale.

  • CKAG’s September Artist of the Month

    At the Sept. 19 meeting of the Central Kentucky Art Guild, lucia beeler was selected by the attendees as Artist of the Month. The theme for July was “Open,” and her photograph was entitled “Web of Life.” The photograph is hanging at the Cobbler Café in downtown Elizabethtown. The next meeting of the CKAG is at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 17 at the Nolin RECC building, 411 Ring Road, Elizabethtown. Visitors always welcome.
