  • Hemmen wins pageant

    Addison Hemmen, daughter of Doug and Amber Hemmen of Elizabethtown, recently won a pageant in the Elizabethtown area. She is the Baby Queen of the Queen of the Commonwealth of Kentucky representative for the Elizabethtown Region and will attend the Queen of the Commonwealth State Pageant in November in Bardstown.

    Addison has one brother, Braylon, and she will be in the Heartland Festival Parade in August.

    Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland Volunteer of the Month for June 2012, Belinda Perry, was presented a certificate by volunteer center staff.

    Wesley Hilltop seniors meet regularly for fun and fellowship. They enjoy playing Rook, bingo and other games. Seniors take a break at noon to eat lunch and then continue with games.

    The 4-H slogan “Learning by Doing” has stood the test of time as one of the basic philosophies of the 4-H Youth Development program. The versatility of 4-H events and activities provide youth and adults with endless opportunity and lifelong lessons.

    Charles and Deborah Pike of Vine Grove announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Lynn Berry of Rineyville, to James A. Kabalen Jr. of Rineyville, son of James A. Kabalen Sr. and Sandy Bowen, both of Radcliff.

    The bride-to-be is a certified pharmacy technician at Walgreens and is pursuing a nursing degree at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

    The prospective groom is employed at Premier Home Care in Elizabethtown.

    The residents of Atria Senior Living Community announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of Tammy Raines and John Patterson, both of Cecilia.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Janie and Charles Morris of Cecilia and is employed at Atria Senior Living Community.

    The prospective groom is the son of John Patterson and Loretta Daniels, both of Utica, N.Y. and is employed at Hardin County Honda.

    The wedding is June 22, 2012, at Atria Senior Living Community.

  • Elizabethtown Woman’s Club members donate soda tabs

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown recently collected 10 pounds of soda can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Diane Willis, district governor and member of Elizabethtown club, delivered them on behalf of the club to the Ronald McDonald House in Lexington. This is a long-standing project of the Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown and most members contribute regularly to the collection throughout the year.
