    Michael D. Henson of Aurora and Pamela Whybark of Benton announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Brooke Henson, to Clay Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Stewart of Vine Grove.

    The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Harold and Marcia Henson of Aurora and Barbara Sirls of Hardin and the late Joe B. Sirls. She is a 2003 graduate of Marshall County High School and a 2007 and 2009 graduate of Murray State University with a Master of Arts in journalism and mass communication. She is an advertising account executive at Creative Alliance in Louisville.

  • Parents welcome Matthias Numon

    Alex and Megan Dohn of Hodgenville announce the birth of a son, Matthias Numon Dohn, on July 16, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Mary and Larry Huff of Hodgenville and Lowell and Cindy Hanson of Buffalo. Paternal grandparents are Joe and Glenda Dohn of Hodgenville.

  • Shipps celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

    Johnny and Joan Shipp of Hodgenville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 9, 2011.

    They were married Sept. 9, 1961.

    Mr. Shipp is retired from civil service at Fort Knox.

    Mrs. Shipp is retired from Communicare.

    They have three children, Dr. Todd Shipp of Macon, Ga., Julian Shipp of Louisville and Jacque Shipp of Hodgenville; and three grandchildren.

    There will be a family celebration at a later time.

  • Riggs celebrate 25th wedding anniversary

    Calvin and Patti Riggs celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2011.

    They were married Aug. 17, 1986, at North Stephensburg Missionary Baptist Church in Stephensburg by Brother Cleo Hester.

    Mr. Riggs is a senior engineering manager at Akebono Corporation in Elizabethtown.

    Mrs. Riggs is a homemaker, a property manager and has recently returned to college pursing a nursing degree.

    They have three sons, Matthew, John and Michael.

  • Gebharts celebrate 25th wedding anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Gebhart celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a celebration service at New Hope Community Church on Sept. 10, 2011, for family and close friends. 

    They were married Sept. 13, 1986.

    They have two children, Melissa Johansen of Radcliff and Steve Owens of Springfield, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

    Matthew Riggs and Brittani Williams were married by the Rev. Kenny Merritt on May 7, 2011, at Fairfarm Baptist Church.

    The bride is the daughter of Raymond Williams and Brenda Lyall.

    The groom is the son of Calvin and Patti Riggs.

    Maid of honor was Monika Roberts; bridesmaid was Kaitlin Holbrook-Elkins; and flower girl was Emily Roberts.

    Best man was Michael Riggs; groomsman was John Riggs; ring bearer was Clayton Hester; and ushers were Jordan Sanders and Corey Benvides.

    Pianist was Hannah Miller.
