  • Troop 1558 members deliver bookmarks to residents of Allegro

    Second-graders from St. James Catholic Regional School in Brownie Girl Scout Troop 1558 deliver handmade bookmarks and notepads to residents at Allegro Senior Living Facility.

  • Zonta officers elected at April meeting

    Officers for the 2013-14 year were elected at the April meeting of the Zonta Club of Elizabethtown. Officers include President Ruth Ellen Stanley, seated, the club’s only charter member; and from left, Secretary Sue Story, Second Vice President Gail Crain, Treasurer Crystal Tilton and Director Lois Pierce. Not pictured are First Vice President Julia Workman and Director Ramona Jeffries. The new officers will meet soon to plan for the upcoming year to continue projects to improve the status of women.

    On March 12, the Goldenrod Homemakers met for the monthly meeting in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church of Eastview. Nadine Bush was the lesson leader on “Focus on the Home: Preparedness.” Alice Bennett was the hostess. A potluck meal was served.

    Lexington Hilton Suites was the setting of Alpha Gamma State’s 2013 convention April 5 through 7. The mission and vision statement of the organization remains the same as when the 13 founders met at the Brown Hotel in Louisville on March 24, 1937: The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.

  • Graves brothers achieve Eagle Scout Rank

    Kevin Graves, 13, was the most recent Graves brother to earn his Eagle Scout Rank. He earned his in 2012. His brother, Brian, 27, earned his award in 2007 and another brother, Justin, 23, earned his award in 2003.

    MaKayla Post named state finalist in the National American Miss Kentucky Pageant

    MaKayla Post, 9, daughter of Amanda Post and granddaughter of Betty Post, was named a state finalist in the National American Miss Kentucky Pageant to be held May 31 through June 2 at Crowne Plaza in Louisville.

    The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California.

  • Harts celebrate 50th anniversary

    Jack and Karen McCracken Hart of Radcliff, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. May 25, 2013, at Radcliff United Methodist Church.

    They were married May 25, 1963, at Radcliff United Methodist Church.

    Mrs. Hart is a charter member of Radcliff United Methodist Church.

    Mr. Hart is owner of Jack Hart’s Body Shop and is a member Radcliff United Methodist Church.

    They have three children, Steve Hart and Kaye Nunn, both of Elizabethtown, and Buddy Hart of Rineyville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
