• Yancys celebrate 50th anniversary

    Stanley and Delores Ray Yancy of Dade City, Fla., will celebrate their 50th anniversary Sept. 15, 2012.

    They were married Sept. 15, 1962, at Fort Knox.

    Mr. Yancy retired as a first sergeant after 32 years of U.S. Army and National Guard service. He is a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Dade City.

    Mrs. Yancy retired from Pasco County Schools and also is a member of Calvary Assembly of God.

  • Floyd recognized by Glendale Lions Club

    Kenneth Floyd was honored for 60 years of dedicated service to the Glendale Lions Club on Sept. 6. He joined in December 1951 and has since remained an active member. He has demonstrated a commitment to being of service to others and the community consistent with the Lions motto, “We Serve.” Pictured with Kenneth Floyd is Club President James Jeffries.

  • RPD dispatcher Riney completes safety dispatch basic training class

    Radcliff Police Department Dispatcher Stacy Riney recently graduated from the Department of Criminal Justice Training Public Safety Dispatch Basic Training Class No. 83. Riney successfully completed the 5-week, 205-hour Criminal Justice Information System Public Safety Dispatch Academy. Students graduating from the academy represent the successful completion of a highly structured and comprehensive curriculum. As a result, each dispatcher is prepared to meet the ever increasing demands expected of today’s public safety dispatcher.

    Gary Broadway of Vine Grove recently harvested a pumpkin that weighed more than 200 pounds.

  • Brooks celebrates 92nd birthday

    Chester Brooks of Rineyville will celebrate his 92nd birthday Sept. 10, 2012.

    Mr. Brooks is very active and loves to dance. His wife, Margaret, will be 79 years old Sept. 11. They have been married 17 years.

    Grady and Lorrie Buchanan of Rineyville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lindsay Buchanan of Rineyville, to Christopher Walden of Scottsville, son of James and Debbie Walden of Scottsville.

    The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of John Hardin High School and a 2011 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a teaching certificate in elementary education. She is a substitute teacher with Hardin County Schools.

  • Hopkins celebrates 90th birthday

    Harriett Hopkins of Elizabethtown celebrated her 90th birthday Sept. 8, 2012, with her family.

    She is a member of Lakeside Worship Center.

    She has two daughters, Sharon Lee of Georgia and Brenda Myers of Elizabethtown; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

    The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of LaRue County High School and a 2009 graduate of Western Kentucky University. She is employed at Warren County Public Library in Bowling Green.

    The prospective groom is a 2006 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and a 2010 graduate of WKU. He is employed at JB Hunt in Park City.
