  • Wesley Hilltop seniors travel to Bardstown

    Wesley Hilltop seniors traveled to Bardstown May 18 for lunch at the Stephen Foster Restaurant. Approximately 30 people ate lunch and had a great time. Those who attended and are not pictured include Roy Harper, Randall Clauson, Raymond Schulton, Donna Means, Lucille Stillwell and Leon Whitlock.

  • Stitchers celebrate Christmas in July

    A Christmas in July workshop weekend was hosted by Sew Much More Quilt Shop in Clarkson to Stitchers Quilt Guild members. Members worked on two different projects, a small Christmas wallhanging and a Christmas tree skirt.

    Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Gibson of Glendale announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Keri Gibson, to Aaron Howard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Howard of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2012 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in exercise science. She attends Bellarmine University pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

  • Shaw

    Rogerlyn Biggs of Elizabethtown and Frank William Shaw of Spring Hill, Fla., were married May 19, 2012, in a patio wedding at the home of the bride by Pastor Brenda Nelson.

    The bride is the daughter of Louise Fred of Elizabethtown and the late Roger Fred.

    The groom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shaw.

    The bride was given in marriage by her grandson, Blake Thorn of Berea.

  • Millers celebrate 25th anniversary

    Brad and Sonia Hornback Miller of Elizabethtown celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary July 25, 2012.

    They were married July 25, 1987 at Barren Run Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Miller is a graduate of LaRue County High School and is a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church. She attends nursing school and is a medical transcriptionist for Kindred Healthcare.

    Greg and Karen Lane of Louisville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Katherine Jeannine Lane, to Ryan Herbert Peace, son of Tim and Belinda Peace of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2012 graduate of the University of Louisville. She has a Bachelor of Science in nursing and is a registered nurse at University Hospital.

    The prospective groom is a 2009 graduate of Western Kentucky University. He has a Bachelor of Science in biology and is entering his final year at U of L School of Dentistry.

    The heat is back with us. If working out, do be careful you don’t get overheated. Be sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks. We had an appointment in Elizabethtown Monday afternoon, and the heat was practically unbearable going to and from the car, to where we needed to go. At one of the grocery stores, there were some men on a platform working on the sunny side of this brick building. I hardly can understand how they stood it. I know we sort of get adjusted to things, but that seems beyond adjusting to.
