    The families of Amelia Rosenberger and Daniel Wiechart announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Cindy and Kent Richardson of White Mills and Fred Rosenberger of Rineyville. She is a 2011 presidential scholar graduate of Campbellsville University with   degrees in biology and chemistry. She will enter Sullivan University College of Pharmacy in July to complete her doctorate in pharmacy.

    Kevin and Deirdre Powell of Upton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Laressa Powell of Upton to Chad Carter of Glasgow.

    The bride-to-be is a 2011 summa cum laude graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s in business management. She is a teller for BB&T in Bowling Green.

    The prospective groom is the son of Richard and Jewell Carter of Bowling Green. He is a 2007 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s in business management. He is a branch manager for BB&T in Glasgow.

    Anthony and Vivian Bishoff of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Beth Bishoff of Elizabethtown, to Michael Schmidt of Nashville, Tenn.

    The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a May 2011 summa cum laude graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Doctorate of Pharmacy. She is employed at Rite-Aid in Elizabethtown and in June will be a pharmacy resident at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

  • Vances celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

    George and Rebecca Mabe Vance of Upton will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m., May 29, 2011, at Upton Baptist Church.

    They were married May 29, 1951, in Gallatin, Tenn.

    Mr. Vance retired from Down Corning after 25 years and Mrs. Vance retired from Rider’s Bestway.

    They have two children, Teresa Wilcox and Neil Vance; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend. No gifts please.

    Norbert and Bonnie Thompson will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception in their honor from 4 to 9 p.m., May 28, 2011, at American Legion Post 113 located on Ring Road in Elizabethtown.

    Brody Johnson  announces the birth of a sister, Jovie Rose Johnson on March 30, 2011. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Parents are Eric and Regina Johnson of Elizabethtown.

    Grandparents are Steve and Denise Johnson of Elizabethtown, David and Theresa Padgett of Brandenburg and Gary and Blanca Goff of Ruidoso, N.M.

  • Stader completes Navy basic training

     STADER. Navy Seaman Evan M. Stader, son of Katrina M. Reeves of Vine Grove  and David C. Stader of Fishers, Ind., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. 

    Stader is a 2010 graduate of Fishers High School of Fishers.
