• DAR members attend conference

    Three members of the Captain Jacob Van Meter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution attended the state conference from March 25-27 in Lexington. The theme was “Patriotism Endures.”

    The Hardin County Veterans Tribute was on the program for Friday evening. The Army Soldier was unveiled at the banquet.

  • Elizabethtown Lions Club discusses Relay for Life

    Elizabethtown Lions Club President Brian Dennis welcomed guest speakers Barbara Underwood, Carla D’Alessio and Bob Hack to the club’s March 29 meeting. The guests spoke of the upcoming Relay for Life, May 13, Central Hardin High School. Survivors sign-up is at 5 p.m., opening ceremony at 6 p.m., walk starts from 6:45 p.m., to 6 a.m. the following day.

  • Democratic Executive Committee meets

  • Karczewski graduates from basic training

    KARCZEWSKI.  Army Spec. Paul R. Karczewski has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.  Karczewski received a bachelor’s degree in 2003 from University of Maryland, College Park and is the son of Ela and Richard Karczewska of Elizabethtown.

  • Garden Club Members Plan Upcoming Year

    The Garden Club of Elizabethtown Board of Directors recently met to plan activities for the 2011-12 year. Co-presidents Deborah Weise and Joyce Effinger announced dates for meetings, programs and field trips and asked committee chairs to provide preliminary information about events. The group also generated ideas for new activities and membership growth.   • Rotary Club Members Welcome John Hardin Students

    John Hardin High School students Allison Anderson and Matthew Colonna were student guests of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club meeting April 12.

  • Goldenrod Homemakers Club has auction

    The Goldenrod Homemakers Club met April 12 at the home of Elaine Conder, the April hostess. Following the regular business meeting, Conder presented a lesson on military families. A question and answer session followed that included: What effect deployment would have on families left behind? What can homemakers do to help the families?

    Members had a spring White Elephant Auction, to benefit a family that the club makes purchases for at Christmas time. Larry Crawford, auctioneer, volunteered to do the auction.

  • Lions Club Welcomes New Member

    At the April 5 meeting of the Elizabethtown lions Club, Jason Aaron was inducted as the club’s newest member by District 43N Gov. Tony Bishop. Lion Aaron’s sponsor is past District Gov.   • Wuchner to speak at Republican Women’s Club meeting

    The Hardin County Republican Women’s Club will have State Rep. Addia Wuchner as the keynote speaker at the monthly meeting at 6 p.m.  April 19 at the Hardin County Public Library. In January 2011, Wuchner announced her candidacy for state auditor.
