  • Kendan welcomes Gavin Rhys

    Kendan Matthews announces the birth of a brother, Gavin Rhys Matthews, on Nov. 17, 2010, at TJ Samson Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Parents are Shane and Samantha Matthews of Glasgow.

    Maternal grandparents are Sandra Mahoney of Magnolia and the late Kenneth Mahoney; and paternal grandparents are Loretta and Billy Matthews of Bonnieville.

  • Great-grandparents welcome Bryan James

    Dewight and Marla Glover of Vine Grove, announce the birth of a great-grandson, Bryan James Lulehua Grimes-Stotler, on Oct. 3, 2010, in Elizabethtown. He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ½ ounces and was 21 ½ inches long.

    Parents are Michael Joe Grimes and Ashley Renee Stotler of Radcliff.

    Grandparents are Sandra Ann Glover of Fort Dix, N.J., Ola Goldsmith of Elizabethtown and David Duncan of Tennessee.

    Additional great-grandparent is Maudie Gray of Radcliff; and great-great-grandparent is Emily N. Pall of Nanakuli, Hawaii.

  • Watkins graduates from basic training

    WATKINS. Navy Seaman Recruit Glenntis A. Watkins, nephew of LaGina Arnett of Sacramento, Calif., and Ragina Arnett of Elizabethtown, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

     Watkins is a 2010 graduate of Long County High School of Ludowici, Ga.

  • Bybee graduates from basic training

     

    BYBEE. James Christopher Bybee graduated from United States Air Force basic military training on April 1, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    Bybee is a 2010 graduate of John Hardin High School.

    He is the son of Jennifer Corbin of Elizabethtown and Alan Bybee of Fairdale.

  • Boy Scouts have recognition dinner

    The Annual District Recognition Dinner was held at Saint James Catholic Church for the Boy Scouts the former Frontier District of Boy Scouts of America earlier this year. This dinner serves as a format to honor adult leaders, Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs, as well as individual Scouts who have had an outstanding impact in the District through service to their unit, the District or the community at large.

    The Bear Scout Group from Vine Grove recently visited Deputy Joshua Lindblom at the Justice Center for a tour and to be fingerprinted for their personal ID kits.

  • DAR welcomes new members

    The Captain Jacob VanMeter Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution [NSDAR] welcomed two new members, Mary Evans and Joyce Miller, to the chapter on March 18 during an installation ceremony at the Brown Pusey Historic House in Elizabethtown,

    Today, NSDAR has more than 167,000 members with approximately 3,000 chapters in the United States and 24 International chapters.
