    Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Pierce of Cecilia and Roger Siples of Winchester announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Kendra Pierce and Brian Siples.

    The bride-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She is employed at Woodland Early Learning Center in Lexington.

    The prospective groom is a 2005 graduate of Lexington Catholic High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Kentucky. He is employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

  • Tucker-Baker

    Mr. and Mrs. David Tucker announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Aleia Rose Tucker, to Timothy Shaun Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Baker of Elizabethtown and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ramsey of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Central Hardin High Schoool and a 2012 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in biology.

  • Three generations “Run for the Nun”

    Daryl Bauer, his son, Patrick, and father/grandfather, George W. Bauer of Elizabethtown participated in the Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 5K Run for the Nun in Lexington on June 2.  More than 500 runners competed in the race. Patrick was awarded first place in his age group and George Bauer received second place in his age group.

  • Feemster promoted upon graduation

    FEEMSTER. Navy Seaman Marcus L. Feemster, son of Anita J. and Jackie L. Feemster of Vine Grove, Ky., was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

    Feemster received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle.  Feemster is a 2009 graduate of Meade County High School in Brandenburg.

  • Brownies collect cookies for soldiers

    Brownie Troop No. 107 collected 205 boxes of cookies for deployed soldiers. A unit with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan happily received the cookies. Troop members are Keyonah, Alexis, Harley, Taylor, Nasha, Kiechelle, Morgan and Shelbie.

  • Warm Blessings has spaghetti lunch

    Lucas Grove Baptist Church recently devoted a Sunday morning service to the ministry of Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen.Guest speaker during the service was Warm Blessings volunteer, Linda Funk.Following the service the WMU ladies provided a spaghetti lunch as a mission project for Warm Blessings and collected $574,00 in support of the program.Presenting the check to Funk is church Treasurer Nancy Patterson.

    Millie Erline Priddy Cain and Garland Ray Shines, both of Upton, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late Willis King and Nina Mae Priddy.

    The prospective groom is the son of the late Granvil and Dema Shines.

    The wedding is at 2 p.m. EST Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Lucas Grove Baptist Church, 3915 Millerstown Road, Upton.

    All friends and family are invited to attend.

    Paws 4-H Dog Club members, Jennifer Wyland and Jolie Puckett along with adult leader Rose Bible recently attended the 2012 State 4-H Dog Camp May 19-20 at Feltner 4-H Camp in London, Ky.

    Memorial United Methodist Youth and other volunteers are pictured after setting up for the annual yard and bake sale at Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen.
