  • McLain graduates from basic training

    MCLAIN. Army Pvt. Jonah A. McLain has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.

    He is the son of Melissa S. and stepson of Kenny S. Waddell of Eastview.

  • Medleys celebrate 50th wedding anniversary


    Bill and Joyce Medley of Elizabethtown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 28, 2011.

    They were married Jan. 28, 1961, at St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Mary.

    Mr. Medley is retired from the Navy and Gates Rubber Company of Elizabethtown.

    Mrs. Medley is a homemaker and devoted grandmother.

    They have three daughters, Belinda Hildesheim, Sandra Hartlage and Carol Clark; and six grandchildren.

  • Parents welcome Madieline Dawn

    Justin Webb and Kala Carden of West Point announce the birth of a daughter, Madieline Dawn Webb, on Dec. 14, 2010. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Paternal grandparents are Linda Webb and Frank Roeder of West Point; maternal grandparents are Holly and Brian Claycomb of Irvington.

    Paternal great-grandparents are Vivian Slaughter and Sid Slaughter of West Point; and maternal great-grandparents are Janice Fitzgerald of Brandenburg and Ken Carden of Battletown.

  • Burzlaff-Schroeder

    Steve and Janice Burzlaff of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Charlotte Rebecca to Drew Davis Schroeder of Fort Campbell, son of John Andrew Schroeder II of Chicago.

    The wedding is Feb. 5, 2011, at First Church of Nazarene in Elizabethtown. A reception will follow at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown.

  • Northern Hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club has January meeting

    The January meeting of the Northern hardin County Democratic Woman’s Club was held at Colvin Community Center in Radlciff. Prior to the meeting, a meal of various homemade soups and sandwiches were prepared by Hospitality Committee Chairperson Sherry Barnes and volunteers.

    Lisa Parrett, wife of State Senator Dennis Parrett, spoke to more than 70 members.

    Guest Speaker Jason Hyde from the Social Security office in Elizabethtown and E-SHRM President Kris Wood at the Jan.21 meeting. The Next E-SHRM meeting is at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at Communicare on Ring Road. It has been approved for 1 Strategic HRCI Credit.

  • Cardin Speaks At Rotary Club Meeting

    Dr. Allison Cardin was the guest speaker at the Elizabethtown Rotary Club meeting  Jan. 25. She gave a presentation on Robotic Urology and the use of the DaVinci robot in surgery at Hardin Memorial Hospital.  Pictured from left are Rotarian Dr. Michael Owsley and Dr. Cardin.

  • Toczko speaks to historical society members

    The Hardin County Historical Society met Jan. 24, at the State Theater Gallery. The dinner was followed by a program presented by David Toczko, a longtime Elizabethtown resident and graduate of Western Kentucky University.  Toczko shared information about Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill and the Shakers’ history through his informative program.
