• Medley – Wade

    Camille Leigh Medley and Adam Preston Wade, both of Louisville, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Billy Joe Medley and Kathy Hutchison of Radcliff.  Her grandmother is Iva Powell and her stepmother is Brenda Medley. She is a 1990 graduate of North Hardin High School and a 1995 graduate of Murray State University. She received her master’s degree in 2001 and Rank I in 2008 from Western Kentucky University. She is a guidance counselor at Fern Creek Traditional High School in Louisville.

  • Parents announce birth of James Thomas Sherrard

    Tim and Kristen Sherrard of Mount Washington announce the birth of a son, James Thomas Sherrard, on Nov. 11, 2011, at Norton Suburban Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    The baby has two sisters, Jenna and Aly Sherrard.
    Maternal grandparents are Tom and Francie Kamer of LaGrange. Paternal grandparents are James C. and Carol Sherrard of Elizabethtown.
    Great-grandparents are Ida Hoskinson, the late David C. Hoskinson, the late James C. Sherrard, Chester and Margaret Brooks, and the late Mable Brooks.

  • Links celebrate 45th anniversary

    Leonard and Jane Link of White Mills celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary Dec. 30, 2011.
    Mr. Link is a retired salesman for Tom’s Snack Food, and Mrs. Link is retired from The Cecilian Bank. They attend White Mills Christian Church.
    They have one son, Marty Link, and one grandchild.

  • Melloans celebrate 40th anniversary

    Johnny and Joni Mel-loan of Elizabethtown celebrated their 40th wed-ding anniversary Dec. 31, 2011.
    They were married Dec. 31, 1971, at Cosby United Methodist Church in Hardyville.
    They have two children,  Amanda Williams and Mark Melloan; and four grandchildren.

  • Hummel Military Brief

    HUMMEL. Air Force Airman Christopher S. Hummel graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is the son Sandy Hummel of Rineyville and Lisa Meredith of Elizabethtown. A 2005 graduate of Hart County High School, he earned an associate degree in 2010 from the Elizabethtown Community & Technical College.

  • DAV members recognized at Christmas dinner

    DAV Veteran Service Officer Dave Jarrett and DAV Chapter 003 Commander Terry Hoyt were recognized at the annual DAV Chapter 003 Christmas dinner for their service to veterans.  Jarrett received a Certificate of Achievement from the Heartland Coalition of Military Veterans for his service as chairman of the Joint Executive Council of Veterans Organizations (JECVO) of Kentucky.

  • Brandenburg student advances in Lions International Peace Poster Contest

    Alexis Boggs, an eighth-grade student at Stuart Pepper Middle School, has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning a local competition sponsored by the North Hardin Lions Club.
    Her poster was among more than 375,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 24th annual Lions In-ternational Peace Poster Contest. Lions Clubs International is sponsoring the contest to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere.

  • CLP class has annual Christmas dinner

    The Radcliff/Vine Grove Community Leadership Class of 1999 recently held its annual Christmas dinner and election of officers at Colton’s Steak House. Those elected were:  Julie Aldridge, president; Steve Sanford, vice president; Charlene Easter, secretary; and Margaret Freeman, treasurer. 

  • Local magistrates and city council members make 'Empty Bowls'

    Hardin County magistrates and Elizabethtown City Council members are pictured at Warm Blessings soup kitchen after making bowls for the upcoming “Empty Bowls” fundraiser.

    The event is Feb. 11 at Warm Blessings, 609 E. Dixie Ave. in Elizabethtown. These bowls, along with other community leaders’ bowls, will be auctioned at the event as an added fundraiser.
