    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Nathan and Lynny Harper of Vine Grove.

    The prospective groom is the son of Rocky Burba of Ekron and Beverly Burba of Battletown.

    The wedding is at 2 p.m., June 18, 2011, at Doe Run Inn with a reception to follow at Knights of Columbus Hall in Vine Grove.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

  • Caswells celebrate 60thwedding anniversary

    Eddie L. and Betty S. Finley Caswell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 9, 2011.

    They were married June 9, 1951, at Camp Ground Methodist Church in Bonnieville with the Rev. G.G. Lyle officiating.

    They have a son, Steve, of Upton; and a granddaughter.

  • Fischers celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

    Jim and Rosamery Fischer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a Mass and blessing at St. James Catholic Church followed by a small family gathering on April 21, 2011.

    They were married in Owensboro.

    They have one daughter, Sheila Beavers of Nashville, Tenn.

  • Stitchers Meet For Ufo Weekend

    Kitty Neumann shows a quilt top she worked on during one of the Stitcher Quilt Guild’s UFO, unfinished objects, weekends. These are weekends or days that are set aside for members to come to the Hardin County Extension office and work on quilts in the making. Members are working to finish quilts that will be entered into the Hardin County Fair next month and the annual quilt show. The Heartland of Kentucky Quilt Show Sept. 23-24.

    Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown members, from left, Bobbi Dille, Regina Lancaster, Melanie Hibbard and Lenelle Hays, participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on May 13 at Central Hardin High School.

    Thank you to the Iron Soldiers Motorcycle Club for the fundraising ride that they held on May 21. The prceeds from this ride were donated to North Hardin Hope to help support the non-profit organization.

  • Ballard graduates from basic training

    BALLARD. Air Force Airman Kristofer K. Ballard graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, he is the son of Russell and Sheri Ballard of Elizabethtown.

  • Casenas graduates from basic training

    CASENAS.  Air Force Airman 1st Class Harold B. Casenas graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He earned distinction as an honor graduate. A 2006 graduate of John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, he received a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He is the son of Claire Kleist of Elizabethtown.

  • Lewis graduates Air Force Academy

    LEWIS. Kevin R. Lewis, son of Kevin and Debera Lewis graduated from the United States Air Force Academy on May 25 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

  • Strange graduates from Midway College

    Amanda Strange of Elizabethtown recently graduated summa cum laude from Midway College, receiving her bachelor’s in teacher education, K-5. She also was named a Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges for 2010-11.

    She is the daughter of Doris and Michael Dwyer of Hodgenville and wife of Brian Strange of Elizabethtown. She is a 1988 graduate of LaRue County High School. She received her associate’s with high distinction and has had an 11-year teaching career at Elizabethtown Christian Academy, where she teaches fourth grade.
