  • Candidate addresses Hardin County GOP

    John T. Kemper III, Republican candidate for Kentucky State Auditor, spoke to members of the Hardin County Republican Party Executive Committee meeting Jan. 10 at the Nolin RECC conference room. Kemper, of Lexington, is a graduate of UK, played football at UK and has a career as small businessman running an educational supply company and later worked as a real estate contractor.

  • Mu Chapter has January meeting on stress

    Members of Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International shared an interactive discussion on “Stress and Stress Management” with Chaplain Mark Judd at its Jan. 8 meeting. Angela Isaacs, Professional Affairs chairperson, introduced Chaplain Judd who emphasized that many physical problems are related to stress.
    Other discussion related to the role of educators in helping students deal with stress in their lives. Chaplain Judd concluded by suggesting to members that the best stress management plan is to do everything possible to take care of them.

  • Democratic Women’s Club has meeting at Corvette Café

    The district officers of the Democratic Women’s Club held a planning meeting at the Corvette Café in Bowling Green.
    The meeting discussed a 2-year planning calendar, the establishment of new clubs, and visitation and communication between clubs in the District.
    The Second District currently has nine Democratic Woman’s Clubs in eight counties, one club being reinstituted and four new clubs in the process of being formed.

  • Elizabethtown Lions name Melvin Jones recipients

    Elizabethtown Lion Lori Moses and Elizabethtown Lions President Brian Dennis at the Elizabethtown Lions Club 2010 Christmas banquet were named Melvin Jones recipients. This honor is bestowed on one who embraces the Lions motto “We Serve,” showing dedicated humanitarian service to their community and their fellow citizens.

  • Elizabethtown Tourism Presents Donation To Coca-Cola Club

    Elizabethtown Tourism Chairman Jim Long presents a $770.80 check to the Lees, members of the Mid-South Coca-Cola Club. The funds were used to assist in advertising for the 2010 Septemberfest event. The two-day event created an estimated economic impact of more than $25,000 for the local economy.
