  • Adjusting the thin, wooden sticks in her grasp, Paige Pence awaited the cue and then jabbed at pieces of wrapped candy across the table from her.

    Like the other half-dozen participants in the candy-grab game, Pence, 13, of Glendale, discovered — in addition to the confections — the fun she derived from the activity was a treat.

  • Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is hosting an art exhibit through Sept. 11 in the Morrison Art Gallery.

    Located in Room 102 of the James S. Owen Building, the gallery will house exhibits from students who participated in the Kentucky Institute for International Studies Program from Western Kentucky University.

  • I teach a group of senior high school girls Sunday mornings at church and our lesson this past week was about rest. It specifically was speaking of the Sabbath, but can be applied to rest in general.

    For most of us, our lives are a busy, chaotic mess.

Not always, but most of the time, we kind of banded together with my mother to keep on top of things such as washing dishes, sweeping floors and cleaning bathrooms. My dad was and still is the cook of the family — taking everything he makes seriously, even if it’s beans and cornbread.

    During the season when you can get tomatoes fresh out of the garden, a good BLT is a delicacy. At least at my house it is. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

  • Radcliff resident Vince Carman has cleared the path, literally and figuratively, for those who share his enjoyment of mountain biking.

    Carman, 40, designed the mountain bike trails at the annex ofSaunders Springs Nature Preserve in Radcliff. The trails are part of the park expansion which resulted from a lease agreement with Fort Knox.
