  • SAVAGE. Army Pvt. Spencer M. Savage has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. A 2014 graduate of John Hardin High School, he is the son of Thomas Savage of Elizabethtown and Melinda Lawyer of Hermitage, Tennessee, and stepson of Monika K. Savage of Elizabethtown.
     

  • Air Force Guard Capt. Jeffrey E. Higgs has deployed overseas to a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation United Assistance.

    It is with utmost honor and appreciation for all they have done to keep our country the land of the free and land of the brave that we remember our veterans, this year’s Veterans Day. It is this truth that stands out in my mind that the only ones who gave their lives that we might live is Jesus Christ and our Service men/women.

  • Robert W. and Linda J. Henderson Brown of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 50th anniversary Nov. 29, 2014, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.
    They were married Nov. 14, 1964, at Vinson Memorial Christian Church.
    They have three children, Lisa Vaught of Glasgow, David Brown of Bardstown and Jimmy Brown of Sellersburg, Indiana; and seven grandchildren.

    KENTUCKY WEATHER.   Leaves are everywhere and they are still falling. When I was little I would go to aunt Stacey’s house and she’d rake and pile the leaves and then I’d jump in. It was so much fun. Oh the good times she and I shared on the farm.

  • Jeanne Palmer Mays of Bowling Green, formerly of Elizabethtown, celebrated her 90th birthday with a reception given by her children, Carol, Barbara and Kevin and their families at the home of her son and family in Bowling Green.

  • Megan and John Elmore were married at sunset Oct. 7, 2014, on the beach at John Beasley Park in Destin, Florida.
    The private ceremony included their parents, Terry and Karen Herbert and Robert and Ardell Elmore; their daughter, Lily; and the groom’s sister, Heather Elmore.
