  • Dance, desserts and do-it-yourself crafts will deluge Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center this weekend as Christmas in the Commons arrives in time for the holiday season.

    Jim Holley Daniels III, 25, Rineyville, and Mary Kathryn Hume, 26, Shreveport, Louisiana.

    Nicholas Louis Demas, 31, and Kari Ann Bartnicki, 28, both of Elizabethtown.

  • Hardin County Playhouse will host auditions Monday and Tuesday at Plum Alley Theater in Elizabethtown for the upcoming production of “Moon­light and Magnolias.”

    Auditions begin at 6:30 p.m. The Plum Alley Theater is in the Historic State Theater Complex at 209 W. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown.

    Three men and one woman are needed for the cast.

  • While most people were out shopping for Black Friday deals, “Star Wars” fans were glued to the Internet waiting for an early Christmas gift.

    It was a sneak peek teaser trailer to J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.” It was released in select theaters and online.

  • I’ve heard it said many times that life is what you make it.

    When I was much, much younger, I’m sure I thought that was a copout, as far as philosophies go. It was like saying, “don’t worry, be happy,” a sentiment that tends to torque off many of those who happen to be unhappy at the time they hear that expression.
